future forward line

JUST THINK HOW GOOD THE FORWARD LINE WILL LOOK, in about two years time, three mobile unstoppable forward in watts, LJ, and bate, gawn and fiz in the ruck and resting at full forward, Colin. s. playing half forward, flanker, gysbert, and traps kicking them from outside 50, tom and jack.t. kicking one or two a game each, woni pinching two or three a game, and the flash pinch hitting now and again, it will be a muilti goal kicking forward line, without having to rely on one or two boys kicking them. Also Morton at CHF, what else can anyone think, how the foward line wiil look?, can you see my vission?

Fitzy is still an unknown. If he doesn't make it as a forward, I don't think he'll make it.

There's too much competition for ruck spots around his age at the moment.

It'll be good, although I still think we need a really good quality FF.

Hopefully Fitzy or a late pick in the next few years will be that FF.

no offence, but u have listed our 2009 draftees as ones that will make our forward line unstopapable when it was regarded as one of the worst drafts on record.

It's really easy to get excited about talent purely based on where it was picked in the draft.

Whilst that's the best indicator that we've got at the moment, it's no guarantee.

Hopefully we'll be able to trade for a quality FF, or more likely, pick up a quality FF with a late pick.

I'd be really happy if we were able to pick up someone like a Bradshaw type with a late pick. I think that's our best chance.

AGREE- we need an experienced tall forward,we cannot expect miracles out of Watts for a few years yet. Roughhead from Hawthorn would be ideal.

Haha, good luck getting Hawthorn to give up Roughy!

But you're right, we need that dominant key forward. It's possible that we'll be able to use a lesser forward, but to do that, we need to have a superiour midfield. That may be the route that we go down.

Every year we get a new thread putting up names who are only "potentially" good, and other names that have been at the club 5 minutes.

I don't mean to rain on peoples' parade, but if every one of those names became a star, it would be freaky. Statistically speaking, half of them will disappear without a trace.

I agree that we're expecting every player to become a star.

However, with the amount of top 20ish picks we've got, there's a much greater chance of most of them coming through.

I agree that we can't get too excited on the basis on potential only, but there's still the makings of a good team.

I still think we need another key forward, but we're on our way to being a very competitive side in a few years.

Valid point. But the other side of the coin is that there's so many players with so much untapped potential at the club that if only half of them disappear without a trace and the other half get close to their potential, we'll be a damn good side.

Remember Hannabal and his "top 6"?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
