The MFC yearbook for 2009 has just arrived. There a good article on Tim Harrington where he explains his role as list manager. He also discusses the introduction of a premiership model and how he works with the recuiting department. It gives some insight into their selections in this years draft.

There's also an interesting article from DB. He talks about pre-season training and states that 'at least 90 percent of players came back in very good condition. There were two or three blokes who let themselves down.' Any ideas? Did Morton put on too much weight?

Yeah wonder who it was? I also like that Jared Rivers is pumped for his first pre-season in 3 years!

Why did we get it now, with nothing on our draftees? I for one don't see a pressing urgency to get the yearbook now. I'd much prefer to wait a few more weeks to ensure that there was enough time to get some stories about our new draftees into the magazine before it went to publication.

I understand your point, but it may have something to do with publication deadlines and the good will of the publisher, who I think from memory is a club sponsor. I enjoyed the read in any case.

So far, of what I have read titan, I have enjoyed the read. Messages from JS, CS, DB, TH, & interviews of some of the players have been well done.

Along with all the relevant facts & figures. I even like the glossy cover with Davey on the front, to boot.

If your only gripe re: the publication is no news on the new draftees - of which I assume we have (or most have) all read up on since the draft (including this forum) - then you're a hard man to please titan.

Whilst I wouldn't of minded some info on the draftees, I could understand any time constraints of publishing prior to Christmas and the club wanting the members to get them prior to Christmas. It is a busy little period up until Christmas for alot of industries.

A few Weeks from Now is christmas, then New Year. I'm sure that's why the publication was sent now.

The are 2 major publications each year.

There is the Yearbook, which reviews the season just gone. The 2009 edition has been released about 6 weeks after our B&F and just before Christmas when people need ideas for presents (membership or jumper anyone ?). Seems like fairly appropriate timing to me.

Then there is the Season Preview (Almanac ?), which previews the upcoming season and is normally released not too long before the start of the season proper. This includes info on every player on our 2010 list plus a heap of articles on our new draftees. And just in time to serve as a reminder to renew memberships or buy jumpers before the action begins. Again, seems like fairly appropriate timing to me.

What are you proposing, a combined Yearbook / Almanac released in the middle of summer? That would get forgotten about by most supporters rather quickly and be a marketing failure.

And I should add, I thought it was an ok read. I usually find the Yearbook a bit of a dribble fest and this was no different.

I dont really care, its not aimed at diehards like us, its purpose is to generate memberships, sell merchandise and excite young supporters and it achieves that.

The Preview I normally find a decent read though.

Merchandise brochures can be sent on their own, can they not? And since this only goes to members (I assume), it's not much of an advertising campaign.

That's a fair point, the Almanac does provide information on our list. But the Almanac is a while away yet.

I was suggesting that the yearbook could be sent out in another 2 weeks, hopefully providing enough time to get an article or two about our draftees into the magazine.

I looked and went "sh**, someone's made a bad mistake here...!". The grey shirt says "Champions" and has 58... Doesn't work.

You should not read it then.

If they had not sent it prior to the end of November then it is likely it would never have reached supporters until after Christmas. There would have been spasmodic delivery because of Christmas deadlines and some posters on this forum would see it as another failing of the Club.

Its an unnecessary waste of money to incur another document dispatch fee for merchandise brochure two weeks prior to your preferred despatch time.

On the tank tops (how appropriate! ) I would have preferred 1858 to 58.

That said, I did like the look of a couple of the 'heritage' tops. Especially the white one.

Unfortunately I can't give you any factual information about these 2-3 players. Nor for that matter any pure speculation ! Turns out I only listen to SEN when someone says they have some information regarding our club. Like Greg Denham.

I'm sure the players concerned would have made up for it for now.
