One of the dumbest things I've ever seen, why would anybody talk during a beep test? It's like telling somebody practicing archery not to poke them self in the eye.

And a fair effort for a kid with a 195cm frame to break the record, not your typical endurance runner at that size. Seems the prime candidate for a development ruck-man.

mclean talked during his beep test when he was at the draft camp. he was trying to spur on his his murray bushrangers teamate. so there you go. it does happen.

and no i havent done the 1000 steps before.

I have no doubt freak ran 16.2, it's a good score but it's not impossible. He's not boasting to be a better football than any draft camp participant over the last 15 years, he's just better over distance.

I can run a better beep test than Jack Watts, doesn't mean I wanna play on him any time soon.

cheers Watts=saviour.

Appreciate it. Some people just can't handle it if demons players aren't the best at everything. at the end of the day, they're just footy players. At 17/18 they haven't had afl pre-seasons.

This has pretty quickly deviated off the topic of.... I don't even remember what it was. Some kid from Norwood? (scrolls up) - Alex Stopp...

HAHA! I was just thinking the same thing. What a classic thread, a true arguement at the pub!!

umm yeh i did. i've got over 16 on more than 1 occassion

You played in a forum game at one stage didn't you? Against the Blues or Saints a few years ago from memory? I didn't go, but I remember reading the post-game stuff.

its ok, in my opinion anyone who can 15 + beep tests and 10 min 3kms and not play afl footy is obviously a dumb footballer with shite skills, sorry freak no offence

To be honest I think some of these figures have fallen victim to Chinese whispers.

Actually, I left out the ones that couldn't provide reasonable verification. There are many unconfirmed reports of people finishing (23+) the test, but nothing that has been verified or recorded. The 19.2 by Håkan Mild is, I believe, the highest score ever recorded.

Trengove did it in his beep test this year to,he was the only one that kept pushing the other lads & kept encouraging them.Thats 1 of the things that impressed the talent scouts, said hes a natural leader & onfield leader

I did a beep test once... made it to about 6 and spewed... probably shouldn't have done it with a killer hangover.

Ah school, so much time wasted on meaningless crap biggrin.gif

Happened to come across this thread when searching the interwebs for some information on beep tests, and thought the thread was worth a laugh for any of us who have been around here for a while.

Importantly, I don't think Alex Stopp was ever drafted, however he did play at Norwood (along with a fine list of players for SANFL that year with lots getting a go at the big league http://www.safooty.net/norwoodredlegs/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4993)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
