I reckon we should trade pick 18 if the deal is right. Andreas Everitt from the Dogs may net a pick 18 - be nice to secure him before the big clubs.

Whether McLean wanted out or he was pushed, it was nice we didn't cave into Carlton's demands.

...and that made me think of that terrible ad for hair dye where a couple are fencing and - after being hit - the woman says 'you nailed me'.

Your post was almost as bad :P

the MFC thinking has never been more in line with my thinking before and for this reason, I'm excited.

Can't argue with that.

pick 11 will be extremely valuable we get in with 3 first round draft picks before the top 6 teams of this year get a look in I really think

Interesting. Never looked at it like that. And many of the other teams getting picks before the top 6 are no threat to us, and are in much worse shape.

I'm not massively into Everitt, but I'm all for trading for something. Looking at mock drafts, and coming up with names, I'm not particularly enthused. Trading pick 18 for more of a known quantity would be sensational in this era of hoping for the best with drafting 18 year olds.

Brock's decision explained here

This will be a win for both parties. Good luck Chook.

Yep, thanks M9. You're never going to please everyone regarding training location, but the closer you are to the city, the more chance you'll have. Good luck to Brock at Carlton. Hopefully the Fev gets traded so his passes will be bouncing off the chests of Fisher and Yarran.

Bock Mc What? Is this some sort of new meal deal?

If at Brocks age his back seizes up and his hamstrings tighten on the trip to or from Casey, I suggest he not play the Geelong or interstate games.

What is he thinking ?!

"I will always have friends at the club and Melbourne will win a premiership sooner than a lot of other clubs in the competition. They are about to see some reward and within four to six years you will see them there on the last day in September," he said.

That Carlton will win one first and that he's going to be a bigger part of that one.

Agree on timing and maybe on the second point.

I understand that thinking. It's obvious. But to actually say what he said about Melb winning one in 4-6, and walk. Seriously.

The interesting part in the Brock article is what's unsaid.

Inevitably diminishing role in Dees midfield year-by-year vs. Ratten telling him "where he saw me fitting in" to Blues' midfield.

IMO everything else (including the money, and the drive to Casey FCS!) is fluff.

How would you know?

The money is also tied to the diminished role in the midfield. There was no way he could be justified on the existing contracted amount.

It called good media management. Nothing to get tied up on.

Hopefully we win that first Flag Against Carlton...That would remind Brock of his poor decision making.

What really gets up my CRUITS with this story in the Sun Today is that Brock States "I had a s..t year this year, everybody knows that" Would that not give someone incentive to really go Flat Out next year, considering the amount of new Midfield Talent as competition....or do what Brock did. Leave on a note of poor form with his Taiil between his legs.

Oh & For the Record. Brock Mclean you look appalling wearing a Carlton Jumper, even though that TOOL Andy Maher had a stiffy this Morning!!

Just my opinion, that Brock would be motivated more by the role than the money. May well have been both.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
