Port wants Mark Jamar

Featured Replies

I'd be tempted if they offered Westhoff and pick 9 for Jamar and 18. Don't think it'll happen though. So I say keep Jamar.

The Hoff has gone bad he's no good don't want at all.

Reckon Port will make a play for Seaby or Jamie Charman

There's also whispers their interested in Hampson from CFC

Be a way for CFC to get back into the first rd of the draft.

Burgoyne will go to hawks for 9 and 9 will go to carlton for Hampson.

Jamar is a required player. Nuff said

Who says ?

Oh, you. Sorry, Nuff.

Mark Jamar  He averages 10 games a season. 1 half decent season (7 games) and people are rating him through the roof. How easy some minds can be swayed with a few persuasive posts. We need to really consider whatever they offer, if they do of course.

I agree

Jamar is a required player. Nuff said

see above...he only played 7 games this year...that doesn't qualify as a required player...i agree the boy has potential but....if a good deal comes along...i say melb grab it!

jamar has been at the club long enough...i know he's played second fiddle to Jeff White...but if melb doesn't trade him...jamar needs to play 18+ resonable games...otherwise he's gone...injury or no injury

I would give them 2 & Jamar for Boak and pick 9. They get Trengrove and Jamar and Melbourne get Boak (who is proven) and pick 9 and neither club worries about them wanting to return home.

No sorry i think 1 and 2 are off limits we are still a few years away from a GF so lets build a young side instead of bringing in other players from other clubs we are in the same situation as Geelong 6 or so years ago except they didn't bottom out as such but had some pretty handy father and son picks thats just my opinion..

What about Jamar 2 and 11 for Boak 8 and 9? I'm not sure myself. Just throwing it out there.

you cant be serious

I'd be extremely disappointed to see Jamar go and it would hurt us badly for the next year or two, unless we could replace him with a ready made ruckman. PJ is just barely a second ruck and neither Meesen or Spencer are anywhere near taking over as first ruck.

If Jamar plays 18+ games next year he'll be rated in the 5 best ruckmen in the league. Big call I know but I'm a believer, have been for a while. I don't rate him on the back of 7 games this year, he was tearing VFL games apart years ago. Daniher never gave him a chance to develop and he didn't emerge from Whites shadow until the second half of last year. His confidence has come a long way in 10-15 games as No1 ruck.

I'd prefer to keep him but if he wants to go, as the rumour from a few weeks back suggested, I'd expect no less than pick 9.

All those that want Jamar gone have obviously not seen our other ruckmen. Who would they suggest we open up with at the first bounce next year?

Depends how desperate they are to get a ruckman

That's right. We do hold all the cards here. If Port want our ruckmen they must deal so that we end up in the positive. Or else go away.

Simple. We must play real hard Ball this year.

We are now reaping the Benefits of the 2009 season & all the other clubs know it.

I think Jamar is theyre 2nd option which is in a way good for us but also means that they dont realy rate him.Just heard that at this stage it looks like Burgoyne to Hawks for pick 9,which Port will then give to Carlton for Hampson, gettint the ruck they require. That way we still keep Jamar

I love Boak, but there is no chance we would get him so lets forget that.

Ohh and Bell will not be going anywhere because no club will pick up our scraps for no reason.

Bell is viewed, by the greater football public, as the worst kind of list clogger. I like him, but popular opinion is that to include him in a trade would actually HURT the recipient club more than help.

As for Jamar... I agree he's shown little, but never underestimate a club that is bereft of ruckmen. MOST 25 year old ruckmen are pretty crap. They have to start somewhere.

I would expect Port Adelaide to laugh at that deal.

Honestly Jamar had a pretty stand out year maybe wouldnt player for player but very high draft pick (a pick we wont use anyway) and i reckon you have yourself a deal.

Hmm didnt our jimma win the brownlow at age 25.. and Jamar's 26.

Taken too long and last years good late finish to the season could easily be over shadowed by another injury of some sort - as poor ol' Jamar knows too well.

Would be prepared to consider -Jamar and pick 18, for Ports pick 9-

(Port would probably ask for a bit more, if so throw in Miller/Newts, someone we dont want or need)

It means they do rate him, just that Hampson is about 21 yrs & Jamar is about 26yrs.

I can't see Carlscum trading Hampson as they may need to use Kreuzer up forward and Warnock is injury prone as we all know.

They have reportedly offered Carlton Pick #9 for Sean Hampson.

If that deal can't be done - then they are going to target Mark Jamar, according to the article.

If they want Jamar - having unsuccessfully tried for Hampson- it will have to be pick 9. With either 18 or 34 going the other way.

Esp. if Fevola goes. Kreuzer will go forward. Waite and O'Hailpin at CHB/CHF.

If we let Jamar go, who exactly will do our rucking?

Or we get burned like we did last year with a couple of rookies handing out BOG Brownlow votes to the likes of Hamish McIntosh and Josh Fraser.

This is a year in which we have to start to show something and we won't do that if we concede the ruck contests from round one as in 2009.

All those that want Jamar gone have obviously not seen our other ruckmen. Who would they suggest we open up with at the first bounce next year?

Josh Fraser...

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
