Agree with everything that has been said above ........... very exciting times ahead for the MFC (which is a hell of a lot more than what many of us were saying after round 22, 2008!). Well done to Bails and the rest of the FD.

Over the next few weeks, several very difficult (and final) decisions will have to be made about who of the existing players won't be with us next year. I'm glad that they are not mine to make.

After 3 years on the bottom i don't think it should be that hard.

I've been waiting for today for almost three years.

Back in '07 when it was clear everyone in the side, including some of the coaches (all of them?), would be moved on, I remember thinking it would take us 3 end of season delists to get a fresh start.

Bailey now has a list he's more or less recruited himself.

The worst of our bottoming out has happened, and it's now time for phase 2 of DB's coaching stint (ibid whyyoulittle)...

We will have losses next year. Some of them will be by more than 10 goals. But the worst is over. Now we get to see the team we'll be following for the next 10 years. Even though they won't be winning too many games next year, it won't be nearly as painful as '07-'09.

The three worst years of footy following I've done, and MFC is still here.

I agree with everything you say. I have not suffered as much as some of the LONG time suppoters (old farts) but the last 3 years have been terrible. Upwards from here.

Good old flogging last week to bloody North, and a bye this week. We sit 7th and top 5 is the bench mark in sanfl. For what it's worth out U18's are not doing very well either. I think we are 6th ot 7th but i'm not sure on that one.

Great year from Brett Zorzi as expected. Seen a few games of Panos in the Reserves and looked OK.

I'm so glad I will never have to go to a game again and hope that my team loses. There was an a-hole of a St Kilda supporter in front of me yesterday, making fun of us all every time they kicked a goal. Just the kind of loser I'd love to turn on if we could win.

The worst does seem likely to be all in the past and finally knowing for certain we have the first 2 picks is a massive relief. With a lot of recoveries on the injury list, this year's batch of draftees and a few of the young guns from last year's draft getting full pre-seasons under their belts, I think we are every chance of making the finals next year or atleast coming close.

Hopefully we have rid the club of the near enough players who gave us hope and then fell in a hole when it mattered most. For the first time in more than 20 years we have genuine depth and it won't be the same 22 players picked week after week we can actually look forward to thursday night to see who is in the side. We can drop players who don't perform and promote on merit, no more favourites and form is the only reason you get a game.

We could get in to the finals next year and that's what we should aim for, bugger 10th or 12th.

I just like it because it allows us to think of DB's reign as in three sections. The first is the last couple of years where we were in a lot of pain. The second where we develop and get beter and better, winning a few more games each year. And the third is finals. When you put it like that, it might be just the thing to shut the DB haters up.
