Playing Games with the Hand Brake on is always going to make disposal look bad.

The handbrake did not come on until the last 1/3 of the year and our disposal was improving over that period.

We were unhindered other times the way we perpetually butchered the ball.

all in all i personally had a great day at the game today. The last 5 goals by the saints was disappointing, but the boys were probably getting tired, long year and all. The crowd was really good i thought, the chants of 'robbo' and 'wheatley' were awesome, and hearing the grand old flag first by the crowd, then played by the mcg was great. Goodbye to some champions, and looking forwards to a bright future. Robbo looking around the G for the last time in the last quarter was depressing though...

Sure, i am not saying a lot of work does not need to be done.

As i said elsewhere the Up Coming Pre season will be critical to the future, but this year was all about 4 wins & gaining experience so i do not think it is a true guide. This is why i call it phase 2 from now on..The Coaching style will change.

Agreed.

It was a really positive way to finish the season, even if we are the wooden spooners.

I compare it to how I felt this time last year, being demolished by Richmond, and there really is no comparison.

What a fantastic farewell for Robbo, Whelan and Wheatley, three fantastic guys who have made a big mark on the MFC.

It was funny in the first quarter when Liam was playing Octopus with his marks and kicking goals over his head, all the Saints supporters around me were freaking out, "wow check this guy" and a lot of them were actually applauding!! Fun times ahead guys cant f@#$g wait!!!

Well said chooka, I had a really enjoyable day taday to watch the boys send off their brothers. Relaxing recently since the club showed it was Not going to shoot itself in the foot. So I for one have been able to enjoy the games rather than worry about losing the extra top pick.

Thankyou to Robbo, Wheels, & Wheaters for their dedication to our club & entertaining us supporters over the journey, & giving us some highs & hope.

Agree about Phase 2 - it's a totally different game from now on. The main limiting factor will be injuries.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
