A pity for Whelan that he doesn't get a send-off.

Why wouldn't he? He is on the bench.

PJ's career must be close to finished. We played 4 ruckmen, and he's the one who got the chop.

Disappointed with the bench. I'd like all those players to get a game this week. Instead, we get more of Bartram and Miller. What's one game going to show us, anyway? I would have thought the FD would know by know what they're going to do with them.

I'm hoping for the bench to read: Jamar, McKenzie, Whelan, McNamara. Tough on Martin and Bennell, but we know the upside of those players more than we know about McNamara and McKenzie. Valenti, for mine, hasn't done enough. Our commitment to playing Whelan and Wheatley keeps some players out.

who knows...we might be 'showcasing' some assets !!

Whelan is on the extended bench. They'll give him right until the last minute to prove his fitness you'd think.

Unfortunately for Clint, I think this will be his last game in the red and blue. Possibly the same for Miller.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but another forum on here about Jordie McKenzie linked to a local paper colour piece on him that said:

"McKenzie is unlikely to line up for Melbourne in its final home-and-away bout with St Kilda on Sunday.

McKenzie is due for minor foot surgery next week.

He said after he recovered he would leap into his off-season preparation."

So I dont know what he's been selected on the bench for. Mystifying.

And in another useless trivia fact about this weeks side, five out of the seven possibles on the bench have guernsey numbers in the "40's". Is this some kind of record?

Bailey was quoted as saying that somewhere. He will be given enough time right up until Sunday.

Interesting observation DD.

Can't believe Jamar hasn't been selected in the starting 18 after his 5 big ones last week!

My early tip for the bench to be: Jamar, McNamara, Whelan, Bennell.

Stiff on Martin but he looks lie he's been carrying a niggle for about a month, no point risking him now.

And disappointing Valenti, who's playing for his career. But i think he'll come in for one last crack if Whelan doesn't come up.

Bartram and Miller included.

We know how Bailey is fond of giving players one last farewell match...

Just seen IWAP has beat me to it.

Good call though.

With the confirmed departures of Wheels, Wheats, and Robbo, and now rumors of PJ, Barts, Miller and Newton, boy they were basically the back bone of our team last year.

Well no time to be sentimental. i suppose you have to look at all the players on the list and ask yourself, are you good enough to be part of a premiership team, or even more so to be a premeriership player!

I have absolutley no issue if this is Bartram's final game and he then gets delisted.

Hopefully we can trade Miller to Sydney. Miller and 3rd round pick for their 2nd round pick sound fair?

If you were Sydney, why would you bother? If I were Sydney I'd wait until he was delisted (which is surely inevitable since he's OOC), then take him with our last pick in the draft. I doubt they'd want him badly enough to bother spending any more currency than that.

Wheels and Wheatley would have to break a leg not to be in the team on Sunday & Robbo will be playing without any shackles at all. Doesnt matter if each of them cant play out the game. So certain to play! <_<

Other selections should only be influenced by whether the Footy Dept is still unsure about any players future although not sure how 1 more game would change much.

Only other considerations should be Davey to play as played all games this year and whether any MFC players need 1 more game to qualify to play finals with Casey.

farwell game for Bartram? Valenti dropped again possibly spells the end for him.

Thought mckenzie was going to miss with injury? obviously his surgery will be put off till next week! Good

Posted

If I remember correctly, i don't think the report suggested he would miss through injury. Just that he was likely to be dropped to make way for senior players playing their last game.

Yeah,

The emergencies are all gone! Valenti, Martin and McNamara... If you get dropped in round 22 you are not valued... It's clear to me... Maybe, these guys are already marked as required in 2010. I reckon they all showed plenty v Carlton. Just maybe, the the coach and support team can see what we see. So why the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFK does anyone think that Valenti isn't a required player????????

Martin just signed a new 2 year deal. He ain't going anywhere.

I'm guessing that they are finally letting him rest whatever injury it is he's been carrying.
