Casey Fields Development

Tenders closed on 5 August 2009 for the pavilion extension to accomodate MFC and which will also provide better facilities for the Scorps and other clubs using the complex.

The contract was awarded to a builder at a Special Council Meeting on 11 August 2009.

A very quick turnaround time!

Site works commenced a couple of weeks ago with an off-contract levelling of the site so that the builder could get cracking earlier.

Aim is to be completed in March 2010.

Thanks Casey Scorp.

Will the new development contain additional seating for the public? There seems to be very little seating at the ground ATM considering the aspirations some people have for this ground.

No additional seats in this development. This development is primarily about facilities for MFC and the Casey Scorpions, but there are additional benefits in more covered standing area for spectators on the pavilion side of the ground and improved change rooms and coaching facilities for visiting clubs.

Additional seating will be a matter revolving around future funding opportunities and match allocation (NAB Cup, VFL finals, low crowd AFL Premiership matches).

Good news. cheers CS.

They should keep the whole connection to grass roots footy strong, by developing the other side of the oval into a place where cars can park an watch from the sidelines! -perfect for that mid-winter weather! I'd be there every week if i could have the comfort of my car heater blowing in my face!!

hmmm - just thinking about it a bit more..

-Clear enough area around the perimeter so cars can get in and out..

-Charge $10 per car - x 30, 40, 50 cars, whatever they can fit.. $$$!

(Say $100 for the 10 or so home games played there each year)

-Good way to raise revenue and boost crowds??

Id be 1st to purchase a 'Casey Scorpions Season Parking Pass'!! :D

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
