What I loved about the weekends game was not only the 4 points or even beating West Cokes maybe even Nik Nats fall from grace (in medias eyes) it was OUR TEAM Melbourne Demons do have passion & respect for their jumper for their past team members and played with mongrel and aggression something we have rarely seen from our boys in recent years.

Now I'm not going to break it down for you all as you all are keen football observers and would know being hard at the contest be it ball or man is paramount to winning premierships in this day and age, this is something Melbourne showed on Saturday and now have a template that they should work to, you do not need a excuse to have to play hard accountable football and the win should instill that into their minds now knowing they can play that brand of football.

I watched the game on Saturday and mentioned to my old man at half time that I couldn't care less how many players got reported/suspended as we as a team are showing fight and pride and that brought tears to my eyes as did Robbos celebration of his final goal, as a team we have had to fight for our lives the last couple of years.

We now have to show the competition that we are not push overs, yes we may have a ridiculously young list but they have guts they have balls they have the elusive MONGREL we know it's there the competition needs to be weary of it.

How we play out the season rests alot in the coaching panels assessment of where we are at, if the want to play the "list management" card then so be it I would be very happy with Scully and perhaps Trengrove so whatever happens happens but the players need to believe that they have the ability to do this and I think something like a game on Saturday would be a fantast reminder of where they are at and where they can improve.

The attack on the ball was unquestioned in the first half and their tackling oh boy howdy we have waited all year for those damn tackles to stick and they did,the second half although very good was indicative of a young team we ran out of puff and were not as intense or aggressive however stuck to our plan and got away with the points and I was freakin happy.

In conclusion I would like to thank Jamar for putting alot of people on DEMONLAND back in their place, Grimes for learning the ropes in the toughest league in Victoria/Australia and Jurrah because we all hold our breath collectively when it's headed your way, also much maligned players at demonland showed they still have it all up a good win a good day.

Whilst I agree with some punctuation as the other poster alluded too, I agree it was good to see that there was some mongrel back.

And the fact that they did play for Jimmy and the jumper made it all the sweeter.

Sylvia and Moloney were ferocious as usual, and it seemed contagious.

I believe I even saw Bruce win a hard ball out on the wing.

Good to see him and others follow the example of the real leaders of the team.

Finding it hard to disagree with that 'leadership group' Y_M. The only thing is I'd have a case for McLean over Rivers. I'd also be pushing for Grimesssss soon. Even though he has only played 9 games. But that's just where we are at with our list.

If anything it'd be Mclean in for Sylvia and Grimes in for Rivers IMO.
