Don't wait for the Ball!!

In terms of your points about Clarkson, that is precisely what I was saying. He was for the heave ho, but for whatever reason, stayed on, took the bit between the teeth, was passionate about the job and instilled it into his playing list.

In terms of Carlton, you are talking about "off field" stuff. I am talking about the "Navy Blue" player spirit. In my mind, despite the odd billionaire, the Carlton faithful, which are legion, would have rallied in any event. Your "editorial" on a man's character is mis-placed in the context I am speaking about.

What year was it again? Carlton were woeful and there was talk of us being a top 4 side. Carlton beat us twice that year. With all the off field crap, the Carlton players, even with the obvious list deficiencies played for the jumper.

Once again, it seems I have to repeat myself. I am under no illusion as to what is required to make the Dees successful on the field. But that acknowledgement does not diminish the gross lack of on field spirit we currently display.

Your right, we don't need to recruit talent with picks 1 & 2, we just need develope spirit, just like the shinboners spirit, or the swans honest hard nosed never say die,,, hang on, I just saw where they lye @ the ladder >

2.Mate, I have been a member of this club for 39 years. I was there in '64. Believe me, I have taken plenty of "time to understand the issues".

Take a little more time. Trust me

4.I stand by my original points. Our situation is not unique and your position only seeks to provide further excuses for failure.

More fool you.

Yeah you're right.

No supporters, no coach, no money and no future. Just like the shinboner spirit.

As far as the OP is concerned I noticed this a fair bit and it is quite a worthy observation to raise IMO. Our players need to attack the ball more when it is in flight and as a result we may end up having more players kick to space to the running team mate rather than being under the pump to do a pin point pass. Geelong didn't dominate their game against Freo yesterday but their kicking to space was simple and effective either a lace out pass in front of their team mate or a lateral pass with their team mate running with the flight. Something we definitely need to work on but I suspect we aren't quite up to condition to do this well over 4 quarters.

Then he left a team mid season.....he knew where the team was headed with it's list and put it in the too hard basket when he realised redeveloping the list was the next move.

I think this is a bit harsh. He was under the pump and everyone knew he was going to get the boot.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
