New Training Facilities

Featured Replies

Jimmy says they will but will they??????????? Wouldn't Collingwood or Hawthorn have better facilities?

I would have thought that too but what new facilities at Casey do we have that would prompt Jimmy to say that ???

Probably the fact that they will be the newest.

Its an easy claim to make and just as hard to dispute.

Point really is, the facilities will be 100% better than what we have at the moment........and for the players that is like gold

I've suddenly realised why it all took so long - 'Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett'.

We all know how hard it is to get a signature from G. Ablett.

i dont think our facilities will be the best in the league, but they will be very good, and a helluva lot better than what we have at the moment. for example, we wont have a pool of our own, yet collingwood does. but we will have a brand new state-of-the-art aquatic centre 300m down the road.

its very good that the deal has been finally signed, sealed & delivered.

It really depends on how you value things. The Casey complex is intriguing, the playing surdace on the main oval is full size and beautifully grassed. As Casey has access to re-cycled water, I doubt that any other club will have an oval to train on that is in better condition, particularly over the summer. The swimming complex is just down and across the road; there are running/biking tracks that run throughout the complex; check out the map of the place.

The $2.1M upgrade is to the existing pavilion and will provide state of the art gym facilities and such. The bubble dome thing will provide state of the art gym facilities as well; the oval that will be used in the MCG precinct is Gosch's Paddock, which is also in pretty good nick.

So, yes, it can be argued that Jimma's claim has some validity.

So will we training at Goshes Paddock during the season? Isn't that where Collingwood train? Will we be sharing?

Anything is better than what we have and as long as we are in the same ball-park as the leading teams its good. Remember the facilities clubs have will continually leapfrog each other so its good for a headline and positive news.

Nah the pies are moving.

The filth will take over Edwin Flack Field and rename it Bob Rose Oval; either that or a new oval in that vicinity. That will be their training oval.

Stynes has made a couple of comments:

* world class training venue (when referring to the range of facilities available in and around Casey Fields)

* best facilities of any AFL club (when referring to the total range of facilities available to MFC)

I doubt that you could argue with either statement.

The facilities for MFC will be:

Casey Fields (pre-season and a weekly training session during the season)

• full sized and fantastically maintained oval to be used by MFC and the Casey Scorpions

• fully equipped gym, medical rooms, offices for footy department

• 2.2 km criterium cycling track available for cross-training located 500 metres from the oval

• all-weather regional athletics complex available for cross-training located 200 metres from the oval (to be built by October 2010)

• $38 million aquatic and recreation facility 500 metres from the oval with gymnasium, pools spa, sauna etc (opening next weekend)

Rectangular Stadium (full time base, but major use during the AFL season)

• State of the art strength and conditioning facilities shared with Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Victory

• Access to the Gosch’s Paddock oval for on-field training 500 metres from the rectangular stadium

MCG

• Administrative and governance headquarters

• Home matches

• MCC relationship

• Historic link

That’s not a bad package compared to what MFC has endured for 25 years.

Look out World...over the next 5 years here come the demons.

I also hope we sign some sort of deal with Darwin, as we have to expand. I also hope in time we can set up some marketing Ploys with the Melbourne City Council.

No wonder the Dogs are Pi$$ed off!!!

Casey scorp would probably say that looking for games in Casey is a good way of expanding but, I am not sure about that.

What I am sure of is that there are no families in the city. No kids means no future members, which means it is pointless to spend time with the Melbourne City Council.

Only 2 or 3 games a year - the sort of low crowd games where a good dollar can be earned with crowds of 20-25,000 with (comparatively) little in the way stadium management and operational costs.

MFC v Freo etc

My Parents lived in the CBD for 10 years during the '90's (flinders Lane) There are loads of People living in the city, it's just that from the Footpaths they are not noticed.

Apparently Gary Lyon has had a lot to do with this so good on him for getting behind the club. Also THANK YOU Jimmy and Co from the bottom of my heart! You've done more for this club In the space of one year than 25 years worth of previous boards.

What the hell have we been doing for all this time? Geez..
