Hope we can see Watts on Queens Birthday would attract a BIG crowd

As i was discussing with a person in the herald-sun feedback a couple months ago, i think that the Messiahs exams start the very next day after the match.. so if thats the case, id say Dees v west coast at the 'g'

hopefully bump up our crappy crowd numbers against interstate teams too.. at least for that one match..

mabbe the friday nite dees v Bombers clash?

all a bit irrelevant until he starts looking like he'll earn a spot tho! which he sounds like he is just winding up to do as we speak.;.

IMO- dees v West Coast - if its warranted..

I'd be disappointed to see Watts selected for a 'blockbuster' game simply on name and promise. He's not ready by any stretch.

He's on a big learning curve and has shown tantalising glimpses of his talent at the Scorps but has a fair way to go regardless of innate talent. Not to mention that he's doing his final year at school and this has always been the priority.

Like it or not, this year is about balancing study and footy. Hang on for 2010 though.

Agree. He should only be picked if he's ready, and he's not doing enough at Casey to suggest he's ready for AFL football. So if we have to wait until later in the year, then so be it.

Yeah thats true mate. Exams start that weekend for all school goers I believe. I would assume a debut here would be out of the question.

There's an article on the AFL website where Dean Bailey's saying that Jack could be up for selection if he plays a great game in the VFL this week.

Its funny how different people read things to mean the complete opposite.

From what Bailey has said, I get the impression Watts will be held back until he consistently shows good form in the VFL over a period of weeks.

One game do not maketh the player. Watts will made to really earn his spot, maybe even moreso than another player and I fully support this stance.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
