Let's see if Sylvia can keep it up with a solid performance (at least) next week. I don't expect another blinder like today, but I want 20+ possessions with 80%+ efficiency and at least one goal.

The scoreboard flattered MFC. We were given a fair lesson today. Hopefully the players will be better for the experience learned.

Took a screamer of a mark and then foolishly tried to kick it through while he was still on the ground. The hawthorn player just ran away with it. Reminded me of a certain piece of play that a one M.Jamar was involved in a few years ago!

remember that big hanger he went up for in the goal square? and then hawthorn just got the ball somehow and cleared it?

well Robbo took the mark, was on his back in the goal square, and tried to kick the goal whilst on his back in the goal square... the ump called play on, and the hawks cleared the ball...

He would've been directly in front from the goal line, but his showboating cost us a goal...

We should have been equal if not in front at quarter time, we missed far too many makeable shots on goal in that first quarter which really seemed to deflate the midfielders. I don't think tonight was a step back, but just a reality check for us to capatalise on opportunities when you get them

People are tough on Bate, I thought he had a reasonable game. He's one of the league's leading 'score assists' players and works a lot harder than many seem to understand.

His work effort has never been an issue, it's his lack of agility and smarts which is a concern.

Don't you mean the one last year against Essendon when he marked it and fumbled it in the goal square?

That effort from Robbo was shocking. He tried to kick the goal when he was on the ground which I didn't get, and he kicked the ball into his opponents shin (I think Beau Dowler). He is a very hard player to rate at the moment, some of the elements of his game look up to scratch if not better than before, like overhead marking, but he just isn't quick enough and needs to improve his set shot goal kicking and decision making.

how can the umpire call it play on ? robbo did not put ball to boot he did not move from his mark... it was foolish but i think he should have got another kick

Agree we had every opportunity to be on equal terms with them at quarter time but they got the breaks and we didn't. They got a couple of goals resulting from frees and that mark paid to Roughead that should have been against him for hands in the back.

We missed a couple of very easy shots today and why Miller didn't try to kick goals from marks when 50 out is beyond me.

They played better than us, but we hung in there and came back at them late in the game. We had a couple of players coming back from injury and they, Green in particular, got better as the game went on. Not too disappointed.

Sick of robbo playing for himself and thinking the game is about him! His diving for free kicks is so annoying. Fails to chase and do team things. He is lucky newton is no good. Would love bails to have some balls and drop him!

Great game col sylvia, was sensational. He was the sole reason it looked respectful in the end.

Bit stiff on brock, kicked a nice goal on the run. Is tough as nails, its not so much speed players need, he has quick hands and reads the play well which is more advantage than speed.

An is franklin the only one that can put his hands in the back off another player.. did it to frawley not once but twice and still was paid the mark!!!

THought grimes was pretty good on rioli... in a side that was dominating i think grimes won the battle.

He just could not cope with the speed of the game today, it looked like he'd missed 4 weeks of football not 1 such was his lack of awareness of the pace of the contest. I'd say a run at Casey to get the confidence back would be in order for him, given Cheney is knocking down the door..

Other than the shining light that was Sylvia, not many of our players got above 'OK' from what I saw. A number were below. The last quarter was a given, the match was over and Hawthorn knew it.
