Even if I was Coglin himself it wouldn't change the fact that Jim said that when he took over the club, it was nuturing an environment that was ingorant of and excluded women.

Bu you just can't face up to this.

If and when you do, you will not be able to face up th the fact that it is a lie.

I don't care whether Jim was right or wrong on the perception of women amogst the club, its a side issue.

But Stynes & the new Board saved The MFC... & you Hazy do not like that fact.

And Jim was right! he said it was ignorant of the issues involving women (correct) and it had problems with 'exclusivity' (correct)

simple. Argument over.

You have failed to give a meaningful response to my points (and instead have rambled on) and you have abused me. So going by your logic I win.

I have said that I regret that one slip I made, which I did mostly because I thought it sounded funny.

I also conceded that, by my standards, this would make it a "draw" - i.e. you were trying to change the subject, I took a cheap shot at your "record with women".

To say that I have failed to respond to your "points" is ridiculous but whatever helps you sleep at night Roost It.

Clearly I am not here to win a popularity contest, so I'll leave it to the more impressive minds lurking around demonland to decide for themselves who has won our argument.

Maybe I am Michael Coglin after all?

Whatever mate. We have been discussing that side issue for 6 pages now.

Well my prediction was really about why you little but still, your reply does make me seem pretty prescient.

It is also absolute rubbish and will be recognised as such by anyone who possess the faintest amount of knowledge about the issue and the club.

There are no winners in a difference of opinion. From the way I see it I'm right. From the way you see you're right. The only real loser is the club for having this put into the media.

Hazy we are on the same page. It was an attempt at humour in a thread without any. Sorry, obviously missed the mark!

No worries. I just think that it is stupid when people give me a hard time for making long, considered posts. Usually this is exacerbated by the fact that the people complaining are nit-wits who add very little of substance to the conversation. That clearly does not apply to you.

P.S. I might actually "Atlas shrug" for a while - that is, if I can contain myself. Over to you Heracles.

Things I've learnt from this thread...

1. Hazy's stamina is unparalleled (his mrs must be very tired...)

2. Posters are prepared to believe either Stynes or Coglin's version of events as gospel while completely dismissing the opposites stance. It's this belief which ultimately influences their argument.

3. The topic of acceptance and respect of women in sport is well regarded by the MFC, by both the present admin and past.

4. Reading these types of threads seriously affects my work

5. There are no facts, just points of view.

RI Coglin went to the media to protect the image of the MFC which Stynes had soiled, even if it was limited to the 300 people at the CL. He did it at personal cost knowing he couldn't win in a PR exercise against Stynes. He wanted the truth recorded.

You should thank him.

I know of many good people who have had serious disagreements with people in positions of influence. Some of them yell and scream, some of them sort it out behind closed doors, others seek reconciliation. None of them have, or ever would, resort to going to the media because they know that in the end this hurts everyone. That is where you and I will always differ. You see Coglin as saving the face of the club by talking to the Herald Sun (I know I'm not the only one who laughs at this very concept) and I see the club losing face by him going to the media.

It's ok Hazy (sorry Michael) i will stay in here. It is the relevant thread as the last board were a joke, even if their hearts were in the right place.

The perception of the MFC & the MCC for that matter from the outer has always been one of exclusive & stuffy whether it is right or wrong. One of the first things i heard Jimma say was that he wanted to relax those perceptions. Good, make people feel welcome.

I can smell sour grapes Hazy, as you no longer sit around the Table of Power.

Oh I kapeesh alright I also kapeesh that the previous board had very little ground to defend themselves on and Mick is grasping at, possibly, the only bit left.

Don't think that I'm an apologist for the previous Board - I'm not. I can however distinguish between issues and judge them on their merits. If you want to start a thread about the performance of the previous Board then do so. This thread is about Jim's foot in mouth grandstanding gone wrong.

You are like Fonzy was Hazy. You just cannot say the word "Wr....Wrong"

If somebody yelled abuse at me during 3 Q time last saturday, I may not answer them straight away either.

The Invitation was given by Jim to Speak in Private. I hope they (or should i say you) take it up.

Just Do It, then you can move on just like the club is already doing.

Ok, so if I am Michael now, does that mean that I can say that that bit about me yelling abuse is rubbish?

hahahah

You should get together with Hannabal. You'd make a great pair.

You would never Believe anything Jim Stynes said anyway Hazy. The Last Board that included Michael had there chance & they completely Buggered it all (including the club) right up.

So i believe similiar to an old coach or an old player they should keep the mouth closed. (As Paul Gardiner has done) Leaking to the Hun is not a good option & never will be.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
