Is this official?

Valenti has been promoted?

Bennell dropped after his best game ever?

Edit: our backline has gone from awesome to [censored] in the space of a week :(

I wouldn't think Bennell would be dropped, probably has been rested

Yuk our back line brings back bad memory's.

Bennell Must have needed the rest.

Why is DUNN at CHB ?

Valenti....well lets see how he goes first.

Very surprising INS. Hadn't heard about Valenti being promoted. Hmmmmm

Its funny how ALL week we all speculate on who will be in and out and come Thursday everyone is wrong.

Aside from McNamara not getting a callup and Bennell being an out (I will back general soreness) I cant see what else we could have done. Cheney was a given a Whelan was likely if McNamara didn't get a game. Valenti a suprise but he deserves a chance to show what he is capable of at the next level.

not happy at all. We must be playing for the future and at least 2 of those in's (whelan and valenti) are more than likely not going to be with the d's next year. There must be something behind bennell not playing, play jetta and macnamara they are our future.

What backline? We have a backline?

Yeah, looks terrible doesn't it.

Nobody saw the Bennell exclusion coming. Maybe it's just soreness or a need for a rest. But still, weird.

Jamar is an emergency. I wonder if they toyed with the idea of bringing him straight in.

Welcome back and good luck Wheels.

And good luck Valenti. Gets another chance to prove himself.

WTF disapointing to see bennell out.

I also rather seen mcnamara than whelan.

I loved whels but imo his days are coming to an end.

If this side lines up as selected with the ins and outs, its a prefect example of list management issues being considered with selection issues.

Surprised Bennell was dropped after his game but understand the possible reasons why? However he would have been the sort of player who we need against the likes of the Bulldogs.

Valenti has his chance to show his wares and he has a total of the final 15 rounds to justify an elevation at year end.

Team looks short. Jamar on the bench so soon. Would they bring him as a last minute change? <_<

I thought Cheney and Whelan would be in.

Good week to go short.

Valenti a lacklustre but understandable inclusion. Good luck to the fire hydrant.

Jamie Bennell more than earnt his rest.

Given the opposition the need to not rush a tall defender in is understandable.

Very surprised Jamar has gone straight upto Emergency after zero game time at all.

Is this the shortest side we've ever fielded?

Bartram, Maric,Valenti, Davey, Whelan etc etc...

It's official..................

we are tanking!

We don't need to tank against the Bulldogs. With the injuries we're carrying I can already see Tom Scully on the team sheet!

Disappointing changes. I would have preferred McNamara to Whelan, and Valenti doesn't really add anything given our outs.

That backline looks shocking on paper.

I don't have a problem with Whelan and Cheney in for Rivers and Frawley, but if Bennell needed a rest then I'd of rather seen McNamara or Bell in instead of Valenti. Think this shows Bailey obviously likes Valenti. He may be promoted at end of the year after all?

bennel doesn't appear to be in the scorpions line up either

It's official..................

we are tanking!

And you've come to this conclusion based on what?

What would we have done in team selection if we werent as you say, tanking?

Bailey is not and will not tank. Hope all you want but it aint going to happen.

Yeah he isn't named for Casey so its safe to say he is being 'rested'. Most likley a case of 'general soreness.'

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
