Did she add that one of the elevations was for John Meesen who is now on his way to the knackers yard with stress fractures...(see other rumour post)..two obvious candidates if we elevate, Spencer already is, Hughes is on comeback from long term injury and Healey is in the Casey ressies and is an in and under on pecking order behind Vakenti......a bit ouf thought about these exclusives.....

I would love to see Valenti back in the squad, before McKenzie.

Valenti should definitley be the next elevated player, due to his AFL experience last year, and we know Valenti cay play well and perform well.

Well done to the boys if true. Valenti deserves it.

not sure on young jordie. do we need more inside mids? Or back flanks?

Yes, we owe it to him & OURselves to have a good look at every player who plays in the Red & Blue. You never know who good anyone is until their given a chance to show something.

We say we have alot of inside mids. I would argue we have alot of big bodied - one paced midfielders. None of them are really inside clearance specialists but it makes us feel better to call them "inside midfielders".

From the games I have seen of Jordie (3 live plus one TV) he shows more nouse as a natural inside clearance midfielder than any of our so called "Inside midfielders".

Best of luck to Valenti and Jordie if this is the case as they both deserve their chance.

x2.

With Garland, Blease and Meesen(?) on the LTI, lets get them in and try them out.

Also looks like our estimated wages budget this year will be blown out of the water again, due to rookies and match day payments

I think it happened 3 or so years ago. Oh well, thats footy

Ditto.

Good luck to them both.

Valenti has certainly done the hard yards and McKenzie looks a likely prospect.

Plus Jordie McKenzie is a great name to say with an Irish accent.

It's not a rumour. It's 100% irrefutable fact.

And why Einstein would you be sayin' it with an Irish accent?

you are severely over-rating our list if you people think we can classify our midfielders as either 'inside' or 'outside' midfielders. At this stage, all that matters are midfielders with good foot skills and midfielders with bad foot skills. Inside or outside is irrelevent at this stage.

So Brock McLean is an outside midfielder??? And Aaron Davey is an inside midfielder????. Clubs plan and prepare for the fact that MFC players play in certain manner with certain strengths and weaknesses and they look to exploit that.

At this stage what is important is that they actually win the ball often from a contest than use it effectively by hand or foot. This is the domain of both the inside and outside midfielder. The classification of midfielders according to attributes is very relevant. Foot skills being just one of them.

Im inclined to agree. Its seldom that anyone plays exclusively in one particualr mode or the other. Some are known for their in and unders but same said people might when th occasion presents take an "outside" ball. I feel there is far too much empahsis placed on such "BUZZ" pidgeon holing.

I could have sworn that two elevations because of LTI's was the limit.

But with Spencer, Valenti, and McKenzie on the list I must be wrong...

Good luck to all 3, I am guessing at least one will play this week.

Posted

So we have 6 rookies:

Valenti Mckenzie Hughes Zomer Healey Spencer

we have three potential LTI's...

we get one more to come in at round 11...potentially (depending on severity of meesens injury and $$$) we will be able to play valenti, mckenzie, hughes and spencer this year.

not sure about zomer and healey is still playing casey reserves

I dont think they will play all three this weekend. Only Spencer for Meesen

There is no confirmation I am aware of that has said Valenti and McKenzie have been elevated.

I am not sure who they would replace if they were elevated.

I think the option is there, I am not sure its happening just yet.

The option of being able to elevate them, if nothing else, will put pressure on our other mids to perform, which can only be a good thing.

Still no official update on the MFC site, but if this is true, i am pleased.

As is the way with injuries, when one person goes down an opportunity arises and hopefully Valenti and McKenzie (and Spencer) can make the most of those oppotunities presented to them this year.

I also look forward to seeing McKenzie in the flesh for the first time. Was very impressive against Coburg on the TV, although i'm not 100% sure he'll be getting much of a go unless injuries strike one or two of our 'inside' mids.

Very happy for Valenti! Despite having some queries over him, i do rate him and i think he'll give his absolute all when he finally does get back in the red and blue.

I agree with this, although i do see where Freak is coming from. Good skills by foot are so important, and severely lacking at MFC for that matter, however, you are right. Not classifying players according to their strengths/attributes, as well as their weaknesses, is just being naive.

i don't see why they would be promoted...

The players on he LTI Jamar for which spencer was promoted made sense, but with blease who was playing a game anyway means no need to promote anyone... To elevate mckenzie would be strange as he hasn't done enough to deserve a game. And Valenti probably the only rookie deserving but why promote him for meesen? just as i write this i see on the afl website it has been confirmed and wona out for six!!!

I believe no one new will be elevated for messen. MJ is about to come back from his LTI meaning the big spence would be back on the rookie list until the mid season rule. With messen out I would suggest this will just keep spencer on the snr list for now.

Re Valenti I am still supprised that valenti was not elivated for PW earlier in the season. he could be a chance for the spot now or more likely mid season.

Deegirl on Demonology says that Valenti and McKenzie will be elevated and she's virtually never wrong. At the least I'd expect one to be elevated.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
