The Song

I love it. Great to see the fellas embrace the young indigenous players in the middle of the circle. There is some real spirit there, which I admit I was worried about after last week.

I know I am biased, but I still reckon it's the best song in the league.

Also love to see Jimmy in there, as well as his fantastic mark he took from the left boot of Miller, he hasn't lost it the big lad.

Really sells himself as a man of the people, honest and amongst it. He is changing the face of our club, and hopefully it's perception amongst potential members.

What did everyone else think of Bailey deciding not to join the circle.

Now i know he said why and i would understand that if it was a huddle of just the players involved in the game, but it looked like a circle of all melbourne people involved?

Bailey's explanation said it all.....

DB is not your everyday coach and that is what will create his legend status by the time he finishes at Melbourne!

A win is always the best thing but to see ALL the player sing the club song, this even gave the 3AW jocks shivers. With this sort of gusto we need to bottle it 4ever!!!

Please Enjoy and turn your speakers up so the neighbours complain!!!

Wow. Love it.

What'd they say olgrey?

Bailey's explanation was fine. He wanted the player's to enjoy it.

Great song.

Can somebody youtube it for me? One of the few disadvantages of being a Linux convert is that I can't watch bigpond video because of the way it encodes its video.

which player was it that said "GET THE WHOLE CLUB IN!!"

btw, also thought the enthusiasm from the crowd was exciting. clapping them off after half time and then also at the end. Also, loved it when the whole crowd chanted after the ricky petterd last quarter goal. I started a rendition of "It's a grand old flag" on the way out of gate 1, litterally just to sing on my own, but then everyone around me started to sing as well. Love moments like that.

Heard you. Felt gooooood.

I'm not sure but I think it was Cameron Swab?

Sounded like Chris Connolly

I wish the MCG will put the volume up - I could barely hear the song :o

Wow. Love it.

They were RFC supporters, all I could hear next door was the snip snip of membership cards being cut up.

WHAT DO WE SING!!!!!!

i agree. was very angry (for about 5 seconds) cos it was overwhelmed with happiness.

There are some brilliant signs for the future in that clip. Most of our list are young kids and this is their team and their future. I reckon a lot of them love playing for this club (eg, Moloney, Jones etc) because they're all mates and they've been handed massive responsibility and opportunities very early in their careers. I expect we will have a very tight, solid leadership group for a long time and a bloody good culture too, which will be further enhanced by the likes of Stynes, Bailey, Schwab, Connolly, Mahoney, West and Wellman.

I haven't had this level of optimism for ages - it seems we needed to bottom out both on and off field - that we've done and I can see great signs for the future. Absolutely stoked about yesterday (except for Green's injury).

I was surrounded by Tigers fans all day. They were so damn smug before the game, and quickly kept quiet after the second quarter. I swear my eyes started welling up when i saw how excited the players were after the siren. They were so enthusiastic about running to the boundary to thanks the fans as well.

Great day. I forgot how good it felt to win!

Try Moonshine:

Windows media in Linux

brings tears to my eyes, its on my ringtone but l can't get enough of it

Saw it on One Week at a Time - they showed in full HD too!

A most spirited and up-lifting moment. Pretty much the entire senior list was there, injured players in their suits, singing with gusto.

The way Moloney belted it out just shows how much that man bleeds for this club. I love him.

Ha I initially thought it was Stynes. But i can imagine CC saying it. What was pleasing was the sheer joy on their faces when walking into the rooms. Got to love Mclean and Moloneys enthusiasm when belting out the words. Very important for the likes of Bennell Jetta Meesen

i love what footy does to people. Was there on my own, not that you'd have known it! 'scarves out the window tonight!' from the gents under the scoreboard. 'go the dees! from the drunken richmond membership carrying corporates. 'What a win!' and high fives from the guy taking his two little girls to the game outside. Ended up pointing them to the meet the players afterwards, i hope they went!

I wish the MCG will put the volume up - I could barely hear the song :o

Totally agree, my friend and I were so disappointed, we could't even hear if the song had started, nor could we hear where it was up to or any of the words. It was shattering

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
