As good as we were today, can anyone believe how terrible Richmond were. Poor skills, no accountability, lazy efforts and zero intensity. It was 22 guys who have clearly given up on their coach.

How anyone thought that group would make the finals this season is beyond. They're in awful shape.

Triple M went through there recruits from the last five years, and you can see why they have not stepped up yet, really poor drafting. Cameron has a massive task ahead of him, the pressure will be immense this next draft for him.

If I was him, I'd kill every single one of my teammates for constantly kicking the ball over his head, at his feet, or worse, ignoring his leads altogether.

Richmond are woeful, but it is not just Terry Tan's fault. Their recruiting, their list management, their player development, and indeed their players have all failed massively. Once club cannot got every aspect of its on-field management wrong, and then blame it all on the coach. I hate Terry Wallace as much as the next guy, but he is just one chink in a massive chain of poo.

Great to have a win, except we have to remember: it was against the bottom side.

Although Freo now have that honour.

We were just going for three qtrs today.

Richmond were poor for large periods of all qtrs.

As with the 1st qtr versus Collingwood, we showed what our future can be in that second term.

Eight goal qtrs are difficult to achieve in AFL, even against Richmond.

What a tough time to be a Richmond supporter. When you give up on the flag and start to rebuild, there's a belief that you're guaranteed success in the near future, it's what makes the losses bearable. To be in this position after 5 years. Well, you have to feel for them.

They'll lose Richo and Brown over the next few years and it looks like Gold Coast will arrive on the scene when they can least afford it.

Yeah you have to give CAC credit for picking out McLean. We were always going to pick Sylvia with pick 3, but from memory, Tenace was the player penciled in by most for our next pick.

I don't know if the web-site is a joke but having watched the replay I agree that Bartram played well--much better than I thought whilst at the game. Coughed it up a bit but, My God, he got a lot of hard balls.Is regaining the promise he showed before the bad injury.

they remind me of our situation in 07, coming into the season with so much promise, looking like we are finally ready to have a good crack, but with the coach coming to cross roads of his career, its the make or break season. Then in the first round or shining light in mclean goes down, richmonds being cousins and from then on everything else went down hill, and funny enough richmond ended danihhers career.

No what's funny is that past the first 8/9 picks, the 2004 draft has been a very ordinary draft. And it was assessed as such by recruiters at time.

On Dland we focus on 2003 which we took Sylvia with a PP, McLean with our first round draft pick. Neither are more than good ordinary footballers ATM.

I would not get too carried away with performances today. We made heaps of mistakes but were not made to pay by a rabble that made more.

Mentally flawed but still a star because he is so important to his team and has been for so many years. He always worries me because he can turn it on so quickly and has often buried us.

I agree though, that a key feature yesterday was that, unlike when we played the Woods or even the 'Roos, we were not made to pay for our own mistakes. That's what really damns Richmond. They couldn't punish us. How bad must they be!

Agree with that. I'm still under no illusion that we're any good, but Richmond are positively awful. I haven't seen a team with such poor skills since.... well, us.

Add to that our inability to play four consistent quarters of football and our inability at times of the game to apply forward pressure when the game is in full flow. The panic that also sets in to our young players when we are under attack is also a worry.

In many ways the four games we have played this season have been very similar efforts. Each result is merely reflective of the strength of the opposition.

In three of these games we have faded badly. This needs to be a addressed whether it be a fitness issue, mental fatigue or more likely, a combination of the two.
