Chris Johnson

Just saw on the Carlton board on Bigfooty a thread titled "Chris Johnson - weak as [censored]." Seems the Blues fans arent thrilled with what they've seen so far from young Chris.

So much for those media 'experts' suggesting it reflected poorly on us as a club that Chris couldn't get a game for us yet was a 'certain starter' now that he was with the Blues.

I think we got this one right.

I over heard a Carlton supporter saying that Chris Johnson was one of their best kicks in their team.

They seem to agree, he has good skills and can hit a target but too often chooses the wrong target.

They're questioning his heart more than anything.

Yeah, true did we ever think he was soft at Melbourne?

I thought he played a shocker against Sydney today.

He had 11 possessions (10 kicks) at 45% disposal efficiency- so much for a good kick.

Sydney pressure will do that to you. CJ looks good when he can play loose, unaccountable footy. Gets lots of it and uses it well. Does not cope well with stopping roles and physical pressure.

This is why the first few years of his career were unsuccessful, he had to do his apprenticeship manning up players in the back half, didn't suit him.

Players like him have a larger downside than upside IMO.

I think he is under the spotlight now that he has come to Carlton and I have heard people in the media say that Carlton picked him up because of his good kicking skills. Well he certainly didn't display that today, and I think he'll be struggling for his spot next week or perhaps for the rest of the season at Carlton.

Certainly puts into perspective the hand wringing that went on this board when he left.

I don't want to have a go at the bloke, but if was still here he would one of the favorites to be delisted at seasons end.

You can have a great kick, but if you don't have brains and courage...

Walls was gushing about him last week before the tankers wheels fell off. Be interested to know if he still has the rose coloured glasses on this week?

Went in the the SCG for the game, and I must say that I did find the three or four kicks out on full fairly amusing :P !!!

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
