Kids Zones - Demon Noise Squads

Yesterday, I took both my kids, my nephew and one of my kids friends who is a Collingwood supporter - (working on a conversion here)

All day the kids wanted to chant ... Go Dees! Brought a tear to my eye many a time.

However, could not help but think we need to create 4 "sign posted" zones around the MCG where Melbourne families can take the kids to be around like minded supporters. Importantly .. These zones should be free to the public and not be membership based.

Call it an introduction to barracking for the Dees for all kids ... nobody is excluded. Lets make the "Melbourne experience the best fun for ALL kids"

So basically its a compass type approach ... with North , South , East & West "sign posted" meeting points

ie The Northern Stand Junior Demons Club, Southern Stand Junior Demons Club, etc

Hopefully we get some sort of banner & heaps of Dees Flags and try to encircle the ground, so irrespective of where the ball is we get "Melbourne" noise flooding thru the arena.

Possibly at half time we have a "Noise Meter" which zone can make the most noise and thats where we give out some Demon footballs as prizes!

Just an idea! Looking forward to hearing others view point.

I like the idea and actually emailed a lesser version of your idea to the ideas@melb address some time ago

I hope they do something along those lines

So like another cheer squad?

More like an introduction to a cheer squad theme ... its a noise squad. Cheer squads can be appear very intimidating for many families. Plus cheer squads are normally locate behind the goals. Many families like to sit in the Northern Stand, Southern Stand, Ponsford Stand ... so dont try and force people to the cheer squad instead take the "noise" squad to the people.

Cheer squads also tend to be that bit more passionate - emotional - aggressive about the game. Again not a good environment as an introduction to the Dees.

thats a really great idea! im only 13, and a true blue supporter, but what age group of kids would this go upto???

Robbo ALL kids are welcome, all families are welcome. I dont want to put any age limits ... However, target ages 5-18 ish!

IMHO if we do this smart ... Melbourne kids can bring their friends ... many who may not be Dees supporters ... and have a fun day.

Kids leave the MCG saying ... ITS Fun barracking for the Dees!

Great idea, and one that Melbourne needs to target. I think there are many parents who deliberately don't sned their kids to the footy because the crowds can be intimidating. I went to a Canadian Football Match some years ago and was amazed at the number of children attending, there were also many strict rules around swaring and generally abusive behaviour, it made for a very friendly environment.

As a low crowd drawing team, in a very large stadium we have an opportunity that few other clubs have, that is to offer quality seating (ground level) that offers a safe environment for young kids and familys.

we also need the Parents leaving the MCG saying, It's fun barracking for the Dees.

Melbourne Birthday parties at the G in this section would be fantastic IMO.

Cheap entry tickets for parties, with kids having it at the g and getting "free" knick-knacks from the club and a look around the G

Went to the game on Saturday ... I'm now convinced ... after a few certain events.

We must now not only sit together we must leave together.

When alcohol & football passions mix ... some supporters from opposition sides just CANT HANDLE IT ...

Whats it going to take for a football club to stand up and take preventative measures.

I'm telling you now the AFL will do nothing against the "big four clubs" apart from findless "investigations".

WHY .... MONEY.

PS Just as a side note I refused to take my kids on Saturday ... you just cant take the risk.

Why doesn't somebody send the link to this thread to the MFC ideas email, think somebody from the club reads this anyway, I have submitted a couple of ideas which were welcomed and I received a prompt reply.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
