By the way, Its good to see the positivity coming back into the forum fanatics about the game. Yes we lost but their was a little improvement in the team, that we can build on. I am sure we'll have setbacks but I really think we are starting to get our ducks all lined up. The one big duck IE a major sponsor is still alluding us but I reckon we'll get one very soon.

In fact I am gonna try out some prognostication and say we will have an announcement within 7 days.

I just feel it in my waters. LOL

Anyway if it doesn't pan out that way I reckon I will need to go get a check up at my GP cause I might have some issues down there if you know what I mean.

Despite having a dominant ruckman, we couldn't win the centre clearances when it mattered. Symptomatic of last year, and the responsibility lies with the coach.

Aside from McLean and McDonald (who went off in the 1st quarter) which players in the side can actually win the ball in the midfield? We have a lack of quality in the midfield and we have recruited Grimes, Jetta, Bail, Strauss and Blease to address these issues. They are young and then just dont develop overnight. But there were some good signs from Grimes.

Overuse of the ball through handball. Players under little pressure handballing to a stagnant target is senseless. Again, symptomatic of last season. If it isn't a coach's directive, then he isn't getting his message through to the offending players. Either way, the responsibility lies with the coach.

Good lets get rid of the offending players who 1. cant follow instructions and 2. can't make proper decisions with the ball.(eg Sylvia and Newton). I actually thought for three quarters that the players moved the ball well through the midfield in windy conditions and did show significant intensity at the contest and that to me was a positive. And that there are players who do get the message and can use the ball well. But lets sack the coach anyway.

I was shattered we lost, what a great phillup for the club to play the Blues at TD next week, but we will learn from it.

I reckon it could be worse.. we could be NOrth or Sydney - they were very very ordinary!

Bell's kicking is stronger than people think. At least in the forward-line he would, at least some of the time, only have to deliver the ball between the big sticks, which eliminates the decision-making element. He may not have his footy-brain updated with the latest software, but make no mistake, the guy kicks straight. It's where he tries to kick it that he has trouble with. That and perhaps he's not Stewie Dew for length.

And he has a red hot go as well, so my logic is that we are certainly no worse off then having MN down there. Maybe changing with Dunn off the IC.

For the first three quarters, there was something to like about Melbourne. But that last quarter was a lapse into 2008 territory, and makes me feel as though the real Demons showed up in the 4th quarter.

Whilst Hawthorn's kicking for goal was good (if a bit fluky), ours was shocking at times. 9 scoring shots in the first quarter, only 4 goals. When you're a club like Melbourne, you cannot afford to miss your shots when you get it inside 50, especially when you're playing teams like Hawthorn. That is an area of our game that has to be attended to immediately.

I would love someone at the club to justify signing Newton for another 2 years. I cannot stand him. He is a hack, has never played a good game, doesn't have a second effort, tries too often to take a speccie, doesn't present himself properly, can't mark, can't kick for goal, doesn't impose himself on the game, goes missing for too long, and above all, just isn't skilled enough. Upon what basis did he get a new contract?

You betcha. In around 13,000 AFL/VFL matches only 107 teams have scored more accurately. The 107 figure also includes teams who have kicked scores like 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc.

The story line would be entirely different if Hawthorn had scored on a balance of probability basis and the Demons had been only slightly more efficient, in fact it would have been an arse-kicking.
