Exclusive members polo top

Where's my members scarf that was going to be coming back?

I'm seeing polos and all that sort of stuff but where's the scarf?

Received mine in the post the other day and have worn it a couple of times. I really didn't think much of it when I first saw it, but was pleasantly surprised, very good quality and easy to spot in the crowd. ;) . Of course I also think most of the in-vogue fashion now reminds me of the seventies... so what would I know.

Nah too ugly for me even tho it is Dees colours I wont be spending my $60 on that.

Hards, check with the club. I got my scarf when I got my membership pack.

At the AGM I asked one of the MFC staff if there will be a 2009 scarf and I was told that we will be able to collect them before the games (as in previous years before 2008)

i bought one. I actually quite like it...Oh dear I am obviously slipping down the fashionable scale.

Sweet thanks Alpha and Graz.

Looks ok to me. Perhaps the intended market isn't those that are regular forum posters...

I'm waiting to get the OK from my employer and then I'll contact the club regarding this issue. I'm more than happy to offer my time and knowledge in the area of product development if it means helping the club generate more revenue through better merchandise.

I hope you get the ok.

i heard it has a great personality...

:lol::lol:

That's the spirit!

Who cares how ugly it is, wear it to wash your car or to the gym. The point is it's $60, of which $40 probably ends up in the club's pocket.

Perhaps next year we can get something that doesn't look like it belongs at The Reject Shop, but until then, less complaining, more paying.

  • 1 month later...

Anyone sighted any of these yet?

I saw two at the Roos game, in the MCC reserve seated at the same table - so I guess they had each other for moral support - and one at the Woods game.

Glad to see some will put their money up for the club at their own (fashion) expense.

I agree, the top is a shocker although it does not look quite so bad when worn.

For an extra $15 the 09 Reebok media shirt is far classier. I bought one last week, very comfortable and looks good.

That polo is hardly the height of design or innovation, but I can understand why the club feels it has more important things to spend money on, than product developers (who are very expensive).

Having said that, merchandise can and does generate a hell of a lot of money for many AFL clubs, and the same can be true for us if we put some effort into it.

Well played Jaded.

I looked at the Members polo myself...but Trinnie & Susannah said noooooo.

Great to see the members scarf back.

Half-decent in my eyes...

But that isn't saying alot; my jeans don't have holes in them and my T-shirts don't have tourist destinations in the US that I have never been to on them...

I guess the jokes on us considering it is a shirt that we would wear for only a year and we are willing to fork out $60 for one we think is half-decent.

Yes, that means i'm going to buy it...

Fashionable and footy don't go together in my eyes.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
