Anyone putting money on watts is mad. I have a feeling he may be in contention for the 2010 rising star as we may not see all that much of him this year.

Grimes for me is the one to watch at MFC in 09 for the rising star.

Good call. I think Rich will put in a good showing, 2nd or 3rd in the rising star, bet few are better placed than Grimes.

Highly rated, skillful, hard worker, already spent a year observing & learning the system & will have put in a full AFL preseason, will be largely unknown & off other team's radars due to being out most of last year, a midfielder/HBF so has is in the right spot to earn lots of possessions (as stats do make a difference)...

he would be damn good odds too ... see ya later, i'm off to the TAB!

You said it, don't put too much on him, it might drop the odds and I haven't had a chance yet!

I am amazed Hartlett, Dangerfield, Myers and Vespremi do not figure higher in the odds. Dangerfield and Myers would be my early favourites with Hartlett heading the first year players. I would expect Grimes and Watts the most likely Demons to gain nominations this year. I think Watts will play early on this year off a flank/pocket if he performs well enough in the NAB cup/challenge games. I have copied below the odds for all players under 51.00

Petterd is ineligable. I think Melbourne will get 3 nominations again next year: Watts, Grimes and Strauss
