44. Shane Valenti [176cm 80kg 29.01.87 - 9 games 3 goals] - considered by many to be too slow and too small the young on baller did well coming off the rookie list and managing nine games in his debut season.

Valenti can play, and on some occasions he made a better contribution than our more seasoned mid-fielders. I think he can improve at this level and should be given more opportunities to do so in 2009. A good back up for Brock & Jones if injuries strike them down.

No one probably expected too much from him so he has already surpassd expectation. Has shown a littel without setting the world on fire. Has some sense and ability with ball, which seems rather attracted to him. He wil lget more chances in 09 to show what he's made of. If thats not enough then he will go by years end.

I will trot out the inevitable..another preseason and more settling into his place in rarified air of the AFL might see him OK

Wil watch with interest.

Valenti is one of a few players that even in crowded situations seems to have space around him.

He does doesnt he..strang ehow some players could build the taj Mahal in their back yards and others seeme crowded on a deserted island !! B)

This is how i view him too. He had a good year gaining a place in the team off the rookie list.

We will need good depth players like him in the coming years. But I will be surprised if he gets a position ahead of a fit Mclean, Jones, Moloney.

Do we elevate him now? Or keep him on the Rookie list for another year?

Unfortunately injuries do happen, and we will be able to play him again next year as we did this year.

Nuggety type who finds the ball alot. More improvement needed from him IMO to fit in. Watching his progress with interest, looks committed, need to see more from him next season.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 22nd January 2025

    Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force for training at Gosch's Paddock on Wednesday morning for the MFC's School Holidays Open Training Session. DEMONLAND'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS REHAB: TMac, Chandler, McVee, Tholstrup, Brown, Spargo Brown might have passed his fitness test as he’s back out with the main group.  Sparrow not present. Kozzy not present either.  Mini Rehab group has broken off from the match sim (contact) group: Max, Trac, Lever, Fullarton

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on.     TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

    There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks.     A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
