Wheatley a Swan (rumour only)

This was posted on Big Footy, so treat it with a grain of salt, but it's been suggested that Paul Wheatley was traded to the Swans for a 2nd round pick. Deal has been done in principle, but both clubs are waiting to attempt to upgrade the pick if possible through the O'Keefe deal.

In the interests of everyone's blood pressure, may I suggest that these posts include the heading (rumour only) until the facts are fully confirmed.

Haha thanks D'land! I almost died a little.

I'd be very happy with that!

Thanks demonland, that will prevent me from buying a new fan and getting a cold flannel. ;)

Sydney's 2nd round pick is pick 30.

I am happy if true, best draft ever they are saying so I will be happy as many picks as we can get

Who gets the number 31????

I'd be happy if we kept Wheatley personally. He was easily one of our better players this year.

Frankly, he's pants. His kicking is unbearably overrated by Melbourne supporters. Every now and again he'll hit one sweet, but just as often he kicks a horrible mung. He must have record numbers for kick-in blunders.

Aside from his kicking, he's just another dime-a-dozen half-back possession accumulator.

thats rubbish!

would surprise me i know that he is massively popular amongst the playerd and in particular dean bailey

i'd definitlytrade him- took him until this yr to fully show his potential. a nothing playerof about 8 years. 8 years too late wheats!

diablo- couldn't have written a better summary of paul wheatley myself- i commend you

According to friend, this rumour was just mentioned on the radio (SEN maybe? I don't know). Whether that strengthens or weakens it I don't know.

if he goes to the swans, and plays like he did this year, he'll be ok for them. setting up play off half back with tadgh kennelly and goodes. but i'd rather a draft pick than have him play 2 okay years of footy then retire/delisted

SEN passed it off as just speculation Titan. They received it by email and sms. Just a rumour.

we get a second round pick!!

if true i have mixed feelings.....

source goose?

i'd definitly do the deal- let's hope something is done tomorrow morning if this is true!

If this is true.......who would we be looking at for pick 30?

the best player left on the board at that stage.

Its utterly pointless trying to guess who'll be left at that stage

For pick 30 I'd defiantly take it.

The interesting thing Sen said is they received a sms and a email saying the same thing moments apart.

if it happens it will happen early in the week.... eg tomorrow morning!!

the longer it goes the more chance it has to tinker out....

The interesting thing Sen said is they received a sms and a email saying the same thing moments apart.

For all we know they were sent by two Demonland readers who both saw this rumour and decided to tell SEN.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
