Congratulations on your first post! I'm totally for re-igniting the MCC/MFC relationship and think it would be great for not only the Clubs' financial situation, but also their identities.

With the strong support of both Casey and the MCC, we may be able to develop a strong supporter base - something which every successful AFL Club needs. This would be great news if it went ahead.

Can anyone tell me the reason we split from the MCC in the first place?

From what I remember of the previous discussions, we split to be masters of our own destiny -- previously, we had to get MCC approval for expenditure etc.

This issue has been discussed a fair bit on here and Demonology.

If we could tie up this and also Casey I'd be stoked.

I think this would lead to the end of Bubbledome for us as I'm reckoning that the idea would also involve our footy dept back at the G in the soon to be refurbished Southern Stand. The idea involving using the space left by the old change rooms. This would see us back home in a big way which along with Casey would be a giant step forward for the club. Great news and congrats to all involved if they can pull it off.

the thing is, we wont be able to train on the G

so i dont see the point of having change room 2km away from where we will train

i know its our ground and all but we still link ties with the MCC and have all of our facilities/footy department/change rooms and a place to train over at the olympic park precinct

I must say reading the article at breakfast yesterday, sure put a "spring" in my step for the day. :)

A reunion looks positive. It must remain positive. We were born out of a ground, not a suburb. There is truth to that.

That's a good point but if the MFC and MCC become one again then we will be saving around $500,000 a year by not using Bubbledome. (This is the reported yearly cost to the club of this stadium) Not to mention why have 3 homes as such a small club.

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
