Green put up for trade!

Pretty easy to make up trade rumours and have them come across as Gospel.

My take:

Was speaking to a highly regarded journalist for the Age, who told me that Melbourne have had several offers for Colin Sylvia. We will not accept anything less than a first round pick.

Prismall is as good as signed to the Demons via the PSD.... 3 year contract. I know this because I'm friends with Brent's brother Johnny.

We are probably second in line to secure Warnock.... Blue baggers are still favourites but we have not been ruled out. Pick 19 will have to be given up.

We have also shown interest in Farren Ray, Bentley, Danyl Pearce and Chris Egan.

And a reliable source tells me that Cameron Bruce is set to captain the club officially next year!

As I said.... easy :D

Thats fantastic..

But you are missing the point..

If its not true, what is the damn point?? What would any1 get out of it? why would I waste my time.. where is the motive?

Like I said, last year I heard hardly anything other than the wells offer, thus, I didnt post anything..

Oh well, Think what u will..

It's that time of the year again - I love it!

No to Simon Taylor - soft

Green doesn't fit Essendon's youth policy.

Mitch Clarke might be interesting.

I wouldn't call Simon Taylor soft - I played with him for a few games when he had a fractured wrist and was still competing in the ruck, winning most hard fought duels.

Impressed me a lot.

Too old for the dees though

Yes to Prismall

No to taking Vickery with pick 1- you've got to be kidding, perhaps if we got another top 20 pick below 12

Yes to still trying to get warnock, as we don't have a ruckman (jamar will be traded/delisted)

Yes to trading Green for a draft pick and player

No to making Cameron Bruce captain

Yes to getting taylor of Warnock deal doesnt happen

No to Farren Ray and Chris Egan

Yes to Bentley, Danyl Pearce

Yes to perhaps trading sylvia- but only for a first round pick - that is absolute minimum

nasher, i have a lot of respect for you but in my second demonland off-season, i have still not read anything that nudge has written that has turned out to be untrue

he hears rumours from people and he updates us

in fact a lot of the stuff he has written this pre-season (eg club interest in alwyn davey) has had a lot of truth and he was the first person to mention it...

he admits that it is rumour and he hears it from people and that some of it is unnoficial so people shouldnt think everything 100% is going to happen...but i would rather hear these rumours than not hear them

he hears a rumour from whatever proffesion he has, and puts them here

i think the "fiction" comments are a bit harsh because he is admitting that they are rumours that he has heard

i dont think he makes anything up or anything of that sort

I agree. There are lots of whispers and feelers put out by clubs this time of year and we all know that 90% won't happen, but it doesn't mean discussions aren't taking place.

I enjoy reading about the scenarios being mooted. If you don't like it don't come on to the effing thread.

I actually like reading them too. I was just warning another member who clearly isn't used to Nudge's posts not to take them as gospel.

For YM and others - it's easier to trade Green than it is to trade Bruce.

Green is OOC and Bruce is on around $500-600k. This means that clubs are reticent to take on his wage. And if we do trade Bruce we will pay half, or maybe more depending on who is willing to trade for him.

The Bruce situation is a reason why the club is not eager to put Green on $500-600k in 2011 (the third year he wants) as we will be right where we have been with bitpart players being paid an enormous amount.

Green has every right to feel aggreived. For years we've been handing out massive retirement packages to aging stars and the gravy train has stopped just before his turn. The club is doing the right thing, and if Brad does leave it will be whoever was responsible for Bruce's, Yze's, White's, Bizzel's etc final contract that is to blame. 28-29 year olds should get 2 years max, 30+, 1 year at a time

Wasn't the great Craig Cameron responsible for list management and contract negotiations?

HA HA poor old Richmond signed this guy up as their head of football :lol::lol:

Yencks- Simon Taylor could be good for us- we don't have a ruckman! apart from PJ, who is better roaming forward or back

prismall and warnock i'd still take, psd is still an option for both. no deal has been done yet!

and carlton wouldnt want green nudgey said essendon

i reckon pies might be interested

yes but simon taylor was born in 1982 making him around 27-28 next year if my maths is correct (which it usually isnt)...you could say we need leadership but does this guy have a lot of it?

he's not their best defender running around...

and he does not fit our youth policy

if you want another holland, craig ellies etc...another byron pickett quick fix, then maybe he would be good but i would rather get a young defender...

Has CJ requested to go back to WA or is it the MFC offloading him or a bit of interest from both parties?

Would the club be saying we have a few players that play a similar role to CJ, like Petterd, Buckley, Green. So if we get any interest from another club about one of them we trade for them? I am struggling to think why the club would want to trade CJ after he just found his feet and his role at AFL level

Why do people keep throwing CJ around as a WA trade? He's never lived there.... His dad was from there, yes, but now lives in Melton I believe. Chris's family is all here, his mates are here, and I find it hard to believe he would request to be traded to WA away from everything he knows.

Besides, if his current form continues, top 22 each week easy.

Chris was recruited from WA. East Fremantle as I recall. Lived there with his mother.

Good pick up, I stand corrected.

Still, the rest of my points are valid :)

Plus pretty sure mother lives here now.

From what I have heard around the traps, Chris is very happy in Melbourne and at Melbourne.

As we all know sometimes players are moved on to other clubs against their preference.

Well aware of that... A certain brownlow winner for us is an example of that....

It's just with Chris's name thrown up, it's always linked to WA, which always sounds like a dodgy rumor based on what someone thinks they know. You never hear 'Richmond are interested in CJ' or the like.

Chris Johnson is still yet to be offered a new contract by the club. If that's not a sign that the club is willing to trade him, then i don't know what is.

Mitch Clark signed a contract this year for Brisbane, so won't be traded.

Ed Barlow finished his season being dropped from the Sydney Swans reserves team, before a late change in the grandfinal led to him playing it. No thanks.

I understand that Brent Reilly is under contract or been offered a new contract.

Sam Butler has struggled with groin injuries since the '05 grandfinal. No thanks.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
