There is a tenet amongst a lot of the ideas and postulations regarding our up and coming trade / draft periods that seems to overlook what to me is appallingly obvious. That of course may say more about me that the actual situation I believe exists..however. <_<

Rome wasnt built in a day. Neither will a resurgent (winning ) AFL grade MFC team !!

So much is said about this player or that...lets trade him and him and her ( well some play like it ..lol ) over to these guys and we'll get this bloke..( as he'll soll ALL our problems ) .... Franky's out the back constructing our new superforward and all will be right as rain..in one foul swoop !!

It aint gunna happen !! Not today..tomorrow ..or probably next season. We will ( hopefully ) be much further down the road to improvement but its only a path; it wont be the complete journey.

This up and coming wheeling and dealing frenzy ( or lack thereof ) is only a step into the future. Its a building block. I should imagine it's highly unlikely that we will have the real team we want next year.

When we look at potential drafts or swaps its with an eye to what these guys may bring to the game ans well as the other eye on those already in red and blue who are yet to pay the divdends expected ( hoped ) .

So when we dont get the Warnocks of the world or are unable to clear the list of a clogger this year, dont fret as we get to do it all again next year and slowly but surely ( given an ounce or two of luck ) we will build towards a new succesful team.

Team Melbourne 09 will still be far from ideal..all we can hope to achieve in the upcoming player melee is improvement.

Go DEES !! :)

Right, we should move on and attack other targets (although it ain't over till it's over).

The reports associated with Warnock's departure from Freo indicate that David Mundy is also interested in returning home. Now there's a bloke who I think is a fair dinkum footballer with good disposal and decision making ability and I'd be going after him big time.

He comes from the Goulburn Valley area where some of our big guns hail from - Lyon, Connolly and O'Donnell so surely this trio could be called upon to show their mettle as far as recruiting is concerned.

And one advantage of getting him is that we could then possibly start working on using Colin Garland as a versatile forward option.

Mundy is an honest footballer. You know exactly what you would be getting. I like his style.

Great idea Whispering Jack

unfortunately the hawks have been planning to get Mundy for a couple of years now. to fill that other backmen position with croad

Maybe, but what if a team offers more than what the Hawks do? Just because players nominate a preference doesn't mean it's going to happen. It only happened with Judd because Carlton had pick 1 in the PSD.

Well that makes sense - the Croad - Freo connection perhaps?

Don't discount the Dees on this one.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
