What an absolute shocker, personally the worst season i have witnessed.

Thank God it's over, if it lasted one more week i would have necked myself.

And there are calls from some quarters for a longer season - no thanks. For me, the season ended about 5 games ago – seen all I needed to.

Bring on the draft and the 2009 season.

i love to have a season where we dont have as much injuries as we are getting now

and bring on a good draft for us ( and some good talent)

An absolute shamble of a season, achieved nothing from it, sure we saw some kids of the future but what would they take from a season like we had?

The reaction of the crowd at olympic park could be interesting. Two classic demon supporters in front of me here, discussing 'our number 20's' game.

Its been painful to say the least. Not too sure how many times I have walked away from the G this year thinking I have just witnessed the poorest display for the year. It looked like most of them were planning ahead for Mad Monday today! Honestly, I think we can expect more of the same next year, maybe slight improvement if we keep our injuries down. Bring on 2010!

we need to delist/trade at least 6 players. Getting rid of White Yze and Holland gives us some salary cap relief cos we need it- trading bruce would be the option

Dont know about that mate. regardless of the type of season a club has, you can always take something away from it. We will have a much better indication at the end of next year to see if we have actually learnt anything.

You should have seen the early eighties.

Then again, better you didn't.

I thought there were a few positives from the game.

Ricky Petterds first half, Positive signs. Jack Grimes did some good things, needs to hit the gym along with Morton. Warnock was impressive and will be a real general down back next season. Colin Sylvia was fantastic today and should hit some excellent consistent form next year after he does a full pre-season.

We could have easily gone 0-22 consider the winning margin of our winning games.

Can't stand another season like this...

What really hurts is that carlton can win 8 games in 2 seasons and get pick 1 and pick 3, while we win 8 games in two seasons and only get pick 1.

What was it like over at Olympic Park, many people?

Yeah wouldnt mind a sum up of what happened Chooka.

It wasn't too bad - dribs and drabs arrived immediately after, they had a big screen up with the Debt Demolition logo, a small stage with some 'beats' being played out by a guy with turntables, pony rides for the kids (which was really cute), a bunch of breakdancers and jumping castles etc. They players turned up around 6:00pm, a lot of signatures and friendly chat behind the grandstand, and then the rest of the players turned up at the front. I saw a lady having a nice chat/debate with Bails about our game plan, and he sketched out a little football oval and showed some details for her!

Was really good to have a chat with Brad Miller, he was very very approachable, Cam Bruce was ridiculously distant - almost seemed put out to chat with me. Isaac Weetra was good to chat with, although it was clear a lot of people weren't sure who he was - same with Cale Morton (surprisingly) . PJ says things are feeling good after the surgery but it's still not long after (still had crutches). Moloney looked snazzy in a suit, most players were in tracksuits.

Jimmy was there pressing flesh, my god he is tall. There was a rev-up about the Debt Demolition, a quick chat about how we're doing, but i had to leave fairly shortly after that.

I do know Bails was going to have mock interviews of a few players, i overheard a support staffer chatting with him (he was to be up next) but i had to leave around then.

A little disappointed i didn't stay, i wanted to get a few videos on the snazzy new cameraphone and youtube them. All up there would probably have been 500-1000 people there, but i'm a terrible guess of figures.

Moloney is always looking snazzy. Trendy clothes and nice hair-do's.

I was expecting more hair product from Beamer

Chris Connolly MC'd, so no surprises there. Stynes was introduced to rapturuous applause from the smallish crowd. Spoke about Debt Demolition then showed a 5 minute highlight package from the main fundraising night (as an interesting aside, did people see the Foundation Heroes list of people that donated 10K put up on the scoreboard before the game? Garry Lyons name was amongst them, I'm surprised this hasnt been made a bigger deal of). The vote on the guernseys we were informed by Stynes was at 50-50, and he did a 'cheer of support' type vote to help him decide, the demon variant was met with much greater praise than the monogrammed alternative, and he advised he'd take these findings to the board.

Jimmy then introduced Cameron Schwab who talked about his origins at the club and how as soon as he was asked for the very first time if he'd like the role, he said yes straight away.

Next up was Dean Bailey introduced by what seemed like a 7 or 8 minute montage of our young players highlights from this year. Bailey went on about how exciting the future is for all of them. He then asked up Jack Grimes, who was quite shy and admitted he had trouble sleeping the last 3 nights such was his nervousness. Then it was Aussie Wonnaemiri called up, he was extremely shy to the point you could barely hear his 3 word answers, Connolls basically had to keep pushing the microphone Aussie was holding up closer to his mouth. He mentioned that Josh Mahoney had encouraged him to enjoy and celebrate his goals, and thus that's where his 'frog jump' celebration came from. Next on stage was Brad Miller who spoke well, and mentioned how he appreciated the chance to play forward all year. Miller was finally asked to tell the crowd one thing we didnt know about Jeff White, and he quipped it was that he had an ear reduction surgery early in his career so large are his ears.

White was then introduced to a total standing ovation, and highlights of his career were shown onscreen. He spoke well, and told the crowd he'd always be red and blue, and even if he's picked up next year he'd still be watching closely our progress. Next up Ben Holland was up next and thanked the club for giving him the chance to farewell league football with todays game, and how much he'd enjoyed his time at the club. The final of the retirees, also was met with a warm welcome as some of his wonderful highlights were shown on the screen. He's never the greatest of public speakers, so Oooze's speak was also relatively brief.

I think that was about all that happened, I left when the players were all asked up onstage, only to have to put up watching two breakdancing instructors attempt to get a bunch of kids to dance in front of them, as frostbite had well and truly set in by that stage. Why hold a club function outdoors in winter? Bring on '09!

The family and I went to the function - what a relief to be amongst Melbourne Supporters after putting up with the Richmond Ferals all day.

Anyway, though it was advertised to start at 5, it didn't really get going till 6 - when the players started arriving. Once again they were fantastic and VERY obliging in autographs and pictures - especially considering they only finished a game 90 minutes earlier.

The formalities were on the stage on the track in front of about 1,000 supporters and was hosted by Chris Connolly;

1. Jim Stynes - talked about the debr demolition and announced that it was now ar $3,000,000. Thanked evrybody and explained the process and how the club was continuing to raise funds until 'in the black'. Then showed a video of the function where all the 'high rollers' donated all the big dollars - included in this clip was Garry Lyon's 'rev up' speech.

2. Cameron Schwab - talked about how he was glad to be back and his plans to take the club into the future.

3. Dean Bailey - thanked all the staff, players and supporters for putting up with such a hard year. Again, outlined his vision for the future, especially the fact in that out playing group is so young and so many had been blooded this tear.

4. Jack Grimes, Aussie, Brad Miller - we all introduced onto the stage and interviewed by Connolly. Good fun.

5. Jeff White - introduced to a standing ovation. A video clip was played of his Melbourne Highlights and then he spoke. Said, no matter what happens he will always be 'red and blue. Very passionate speech about his love of the club etc.

6. Ben Holand - introduced to the crowd and spoke about his time and love at the club. Rousing ovation from everyone.

7. Adam Yze - huge applause and a bigger ' Yzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' from the crwod. Showed a video package and then he spoke. He got quite chocked up talking about his time and love for the club. Left the stage to a standing ovation and another big ' Yzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'.

8. Connells then got all the players on the stage. There was a bit of a break dancing display from some kids and Brad Miller - LOL. A pledg was then made that next year will be huge with all the changes being made around the club. They also pointed out there will be a LOT more club nd supporters interaction. Everyone then sang the theme song and home we went.

Though freezing it was well worth the wait. Again, those players were just great and patient. They all must just wanted to get out of there and off to 'rehab'! LOL
