HA!

I was actually expecting a better crack than that..

I make it up, yes u got me..

Thats why a week before the Australian publishes it, I say were talking to Alwyn Davey..

I dont make it up, im just lucky enough to have a job where I hear alot of rumours and such..

If I reported everything I heard, it would be ridiculous, obviously you have no idea how many trades get talked about, none at all..

And yes, having his brother is a trump, especially "pre-flop"..

You really need to get out more..

Well done. Its been rumoured for some time. You should let Murdoch know when you have a scoop.

Agreed.

Dont fool yourself about the number of trades, I am aware of. You have even less idea and you claim to be in the know.

You really need to get out more..

Dont need to when I have you. Keep punching Scotty.

For the moment I will put aside the "Carlton" effect..or the the magnetsism that is Visyble at princess park and have a littel look at how all these numbers stack up

Now as I understand it we have

Demons 1 17 and 19 amongst early picks..aslo teh coveted #1 in PSD

Freo has 3 and 21

WestCoast has 2 18 and 20

Carlton has 6 and 24

Now..a couple of games are being played out amongst this. Theres the roundabout involving as we presume.. Natanui, Rich and Watts. We also have teh bun fight ( probably ) over Warnock.

Again putting aside any underhandedness ( dangerous I know..but ...) I ask..Who wants what ? ( thats what not Watts..lol ) and who has currency to use.

Its is assumed by many that we indeed want Watts..and that West ocast want Rich and Freo want Natanui. The beneift of being 1st is you obviously guarantee you get what YOU want !! no ifs buts or maybes. The question for this race is can we afford to deal away 1 for 3 , if that was to deliver Warnock ? The sidebar question to this is ..is it more beneficial to take a fix in the Ruck and take what we can with first round picks ..or do we want to sure up the draft picks ?? or as some suggest, can we do both. Both to me is risky but the dividends are wonderul..well do you feel lucky punk ?? just about sums up that avenue. it may worlk..it may come a cropper. How much does freo want to be #1 ? these and manyother questions wil be answered in the next episode of soap !! ( might be a bit old for some...lol )

Playing in a cinema next door is the epic.. "Look what Carlton brought to dinner " The Blues are keen on Robbie too. But can they afford to play their first round card for him ?? Arent to many good even drafts for a while. They are looking at a possibly window..do theyreally want to ( or can afford to ) use this card..now? Next offering is 24, then 40

If Freo trade 3 and Robbie for ! they are winning big time. They are losing Warnock no matter..but pick up first choice. if we could trsut what Freo and WCE are going to choose.. this may wel lbe the quickest way out of a jam. They win, we win.. both happy. Carlton need to offer pick 6 to have an offer in same league as us.. and then Freo have 3 6 and 21...not too shabby in this draft. Would Tanktown giive up first round pick ? This I cant see them doing..its a big big play and limits severely the effectiveness of there early shots in the draft.

So does Melbourne offer Freo pick 19 ( not 17 ) for Warnock ??We then have 1, 17 and 35, Warnock in the bank and PSD#1 still to come !! Freo still has something for Warnock as opposed to nothing.

Much will depend on what Freo think will happen at the outset of the draft..and whether Carlton really wants to play rough ( its very like them ).

The X factor..is who actually nominates for the PSD..as this will colour the value of selections.

piece of the proverbial really isnt it

if we take watts with 3, there won't be as much pressure on him, and fans wont get shitty when the "number 1 draft pick" doesnt play and rich or naitanui win the rising star, if he goes at 3 it'll ease the situation a bit.

we give freo pick 1, they give us pick 3 and warnock- so we get watts and warnock, we aint losing anything

then we still have picks 17 and 19, plus # 1 in psd

trade jamar, cos we'll have warnock- for a 3rd rounder (pick in 30's)...then either trade for alwyn davey (35 and bell or bartram), or just snap him up psd pick 1

or save pick 1 in psd for a surprise packet, a good player might have a fall out between now and then with club over contracts.

Thats better mate,

Except for the middle part..

How can I not know about how many trades are actually spoken about, when im the 1 who said that a HUGE amount get spoken about?? hmmm..

That makes no sense,

Each club makes dozens of offers, I said that, so ur comment was rather weak.. really weak and was quite a hot shoe shuffle 2 be honest..

By all means rebut my comments..

But dont make assumptions about me as a person, You dont know me, you dont know what I do..

And as for Alwyn, there really was no talk about us actually making an offer..

I dont make things up, why would I, how would I get any validation?

I only report a little of what I hear for us demon fans..

I dont come oout saying "IT WILL HAPPEN"...

Where is the harm? I find it interseting, and so do others..

Lame. In other words you dont so I know you are blowing the breeze.

Its hardly a trump and Carlton may have few more.

Spare me.

rhino mate, we are hear to talk about the dees...not try and make up comebacks

yes you are....

WCE want Naitanui and with all likelihood will take him with pick 2. By upgrading from pick 3 to pick 1 Freo get the opportunity to take Naita before WCE do.

Nonetheless this trade shouldn't happen. If Rich or Naita is genuinely the best player in the draft we should take him.

Thanks. I figured there must be something. Basically agree with you FWIW.

I guess, though, at the moment, there seems to be more disagreement than usual (from people who know what they're talking about) regarding who is actually the best prospect out of the top 3, and if there really is that little between them, then you can sort of see how all three clubs might start to look at the players state of origin and the clubs own needs (list-wise) when making a decision, moreso than they normally would. If thats all it is, and there is no clear standout between the 3 (or all three clubs simply disagree with each other about who's the best) then the idea might have some merit. Still, if we did this trade on the understanding that we want Watts and that West Coast's second preference is Rich, only for West Coast to change their mind (which they may well do if the top 3 are so close), well...

This actually has some curry to it..that is ..dont label him the #1 draft pick..If we could somehow KNOW that we would still get Watts, if indeed thats who we are after, then picking up Warnock if that was the bonus would be great. How often do things worrk out liek this though I wonder ??

Doesn't make for 'pleasant' reading. ;)

And you need to be told ?

Carlton are clear favourites as we speak. Can we change his preference ? I hope so.

Correct. Fox sports are reporting that Carlton have confirmed they will make a play for R.Warnock. So, it's up to Robbie... I hope we can change his preference, clearly Carltank (VISY) are chasing him like hound dogs.

The question that addles me is.. Do we find a way to make Warnock a certainty and simply take which ever is there at 3 ? Given all are good prospects !! Or do we want the 1st chance more ?? Which path gives us the better dividend ?

I will quite literally have to burn down the CFC if we lose yet another player to those cheating bastards.

There is no LEGAL way that they can afford Judd, Fev, Stevens, and now Kerr and Warnock.

Trust the AFL to investigate us for talking to Warnock, but letting the "Judd is now Visy's ambassador" thing slide. Typical!

What Carlton want is one thing.. What Freo want is another.. Only we can assure that they can get their way..not Calrton.

Warnocks gone any which way..wont matter really where he goes to Freo .....other than who can HELP them !! Carlton cant despite any shenanagans !!

We know we will get watts at 3 cos the two WA clubs won't want to take him because he'll come home at the first chance

Dont count on it.

He has said he'd like to stay in Melbourne. That doesnt mean he'll "come home at at the first chance"- I'm sure most players who enter the draft would, ideally, rather get picked up by a club from their home state, but once drafted, most of them end up staying where they are. If he emerges as the definite best player in the draft, and a WA club is in a position to take him, they will not pass on him just because he's said he wants to stay in Victoria.

And Jaded, I'm just going to assume he's theirs unless (and until) we get him. The whole Judd saga has left me with a "once bitten, twice shy" kind of approach to this.

Completely agree.

Try as we may, we can't compete with the financial rewards that Carlton can offer Warnock.

It will basically come down to money or playing with his brother... and not that I have a brother, but if I did I'd just take the money and buy me another one ;)

All this talk of giving a high pick for Warnock drives me nuts. What's the "benefit" of coming last if you get weak kneed at the negotiations. Carlton theoretically can't match us because if we offer virtually the same money as they do, they still have to offer a good pick. I say virtually the same amount because 1) this Visy stuff is an unknown (which I'm sure the AFL should investigate if it is true) & 2) If Warnock's camp says "You have to offer something decent to Freeo" then chuck in another $100k and see if they still think it's that important.

One thing I like about having Cameron Schwab on board is I think he really knows how to negotiate but I'm not sure he'll be on board before the negotiations are over.

And this talk of "maybe it would be better to have pick 3 than 1" - would any other team's supporters talk like that? Are you too scared to have pick 1. We are in a position of power and pooing ourselves because big bad Carlton are interested - so give up 1st pick. Oh pleeease.

Frankly I could not give a toss about how many trades you claim know or dont.

obviously you have no idea how many trades get talked about, none at all..

You seem to think that you know about trades above anyelse. I rebutted your comment. If you are true to your trade you would not make such gullible uninformed assessments.

But dont make assumptions about me as a person, You dont know me, you dont know what I do..

From your above comment, its the worst case of pot calling kettle back I've seen for a while.

I only know about you what you feel a need to brag about what you do on this forum. You're pretty impressed about it.

Thanks for the titbits.

Watts has said he will go to school in Melbourne. If a Perth team drafts him, he will not even get to Perth, let alone play or train. So, 2009 is a total waste for a WA club.

So, a Melbourne club would seem to be the go --> MFC.

Tho' I'm not convinced about Watts as a player. AND, why enter the draft, if you're not available?

In my view, he should enter next year's draft.

At this stage Warnock has only said he is leaving. He has not spoken of Club compensation through. I dont think under AFL rules we can offer money to another Club to buy a trade. Anyway a $100k is alot more to us than it is to them. Ouch! Its up to Warnock to agree terms with MFC. Otherwise Freo could banish Warnock to the "mercy" of the PSD rather than accept Carlton's trade offer.

Its a good point about Schwab. Hopefully Schwab's and Connolly's history offers us some leverage.

However given Warnock has said he is going, it would be in Freo's interest to cultivate Warnock's interest in Carlton or Richmond to spice the need to trade for either Club.

Scwabby starts full time come begiining of Oct. I cant imagine he would let anything slip if he can be involved prior to shore up negotiations..be rather remiss of him ;)

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents.
