Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Debt Demolition Luncheon

I got a phone call from the club last night, enquiring if is was going to the Debt Demolition Luncheon, I told the young lady unfortunately due to work that I couldn't make it. I did ask however how many had already accepted and she answered 300.

Which means even at the minimum qualifying donation of $500.00 a seat that is at least $150,000.00, absolutely sensational.

I'll be there so I can provide a 3 word analysis if required

Thats not necessarily another 500 per person is it? I don't think that people who go need to donate more.

Yeah! Great effort. Thats 300 who are going to the lunch. I wonder how many who have donated more than $500 are not able to attend. I got a call from the young lady aswell. Was very appreciative for my donation. Would have been great to go. But have work commitments also.

Well, 2,051,000 from the dinner, 100,000 from Foxtel, and an extra 150,000 at least from these 300 supporters (assuming they're exclusive from those at the dinner), makes 2,401,000 from about 460 supporters and Foxtel.

Leaving about 244,000 from the rest of us.

That means that 460 supporters, or 2.1% of our adult members, have raised 87% of the funds so far, and the other 97.9% of our members have raised 9% of the total

not necessarily

because you are not taking into account the donations

of $10, $20 or $50 that could have contributed

I'd reply, but 45hotgood's done it all (give or take a lazy 100K).

...and providing your assumption's correct, that % donated by the majority is probably inflated, given that some would have donated more than $500, and not all who have donated $500 will be able to make the luncheon / have organised to attend yet.

And of course, i purposely placed a 4 instead of a 3 throughout my calculations to see which supporters are on the ball...

Not going through it all again, but it still means about 2% of our fans have donated 83%+ of the Debt Demolition campaign.

And yeah, I agree Rogue, many of those fans probably put in over 500, meaning their total may have reached 2,401,000 haha

Just spoke to Finks' Senior who went to the luncheon and he described it as an overwhelming success attracting about 380 people. He thinks the figure thrown around was $2.67m before today's results but he's not sure. All he seemed interested in was getting his souvenir footy autographed by Ronald Dale Barassi.

That's not far off the figure the website has listed recently.

380 is a great show, and I'm sure there were many who couldn't make it.

According to debtdemolition, almost $2.7M (2.695) has now been raised.

I got an email invite, but i didn't recieve it until 8:00pm last night and wasn't able to take a 2 & 1/2 hour lunch without any warning, which i was a bit disappointed with.

It said in the HS last week that they hoped to raise as much as another $100,000 more at todays luncheon, does anyone who was there know if the hat was passed around again?

I wasn't there, but apparently there was over $100,000 raised on the day (news courtesy of 'Grand Plan' at Demonology).

Great afternoon, and plenty more cash raised to boot. 2 more foundation heroes unearthed, one of which was Ricky Jackson. Another round of donations was asked for and they did the last man standing thing again. Probably 2/3rds of the room gave another $250, many were still standing at $500, Bails amongst others sat down ay $1000, Schwabby dipped out at $1500 and I think Barass (could be wrong, had a few too many ales). Fantastic effort by everyone! Cheers!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
