Correct - Newton and Miller are not going to be our long term permiership winning power forwards

With Aussie, Davey and Watts we have a young fast, skillful and exciting forwardline to bring some success, having unearthed some real good up an coming key backman the forwardline has to be our focus, I'd like to see Robbie warnock in the red and blue next season also, bye bye White thanks but your time is up

Hey guys, just so you know Wonaeamirri ain't that speedy (perhaps he is what he eats?).

It annoys me when commentators and others propogate this notion, presumably on the basis of his racial background.

I still love to see him play though. (just not running 40m sprint times, or kicking 40m+ for that matter).

Hazy, thank god you said it, because i've been saying it all year.

He chases hard, but that does not make him quick. He has good ball skills, but that does not make him necessarily flashy.

Sick of the quasi-racism behind the "aussie is lightning quick" movement.

Last week on the radio they were talking about Farmer having a quiet day, "Farmer has been quiet today, but so has Aussie at the other end" :huh: Aussie wasn't even in the play.

It creeps into everyday footy speak, and i personally don't like it

I have been away for a month, and haven't been able to post.

The last time I left it was Naitinui ahead of Rich, and now it is unequivocally Watts.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it matters with the first 5 boys picked. They are all talented and its a shot in the dark to decide which 17/18 yr old will become the better player.

So go with the Vic, makes sense.

whoever we do get is likely to take at least 3 to 4 seasons to adjust to the game.

going from u/18s to senior football is a big, big step, and one that most players - the likes of judd excepted - need to take that time.

we won't see whoever we pick at their best until at least 2011 i'd imagine.

REALLY speaks well for a 17 year old kid! Never really had a favourite team in the AFL at all hahah

Born in sydney lived there 1 year then been in melbourne ever since!

I really want this kid!

I watched the game on TV and I'm sure I heard one of the commentators call him a speedster. What idiots.

At least they won't have anyone with whom to draw inapproporiate comparisons with Naitanui!

(sorry to go off-topic I am also excited about the prospect of Watts in our forward line (after he has had time to develop of course))

david zaharakis;

from vic metro.whether bulldozing through packs or run and carry with a high turn of foot

this kid is a budding superstar. built like the preverbial outhouse and will make an impact immediately.

he was co; captain of vic metro,made all australian on the wing.

in the final against WA.he knocked up taking possessions nearly 30 by 3/4 time ( all except 1 hit a target) where the game was well won.he was rested in the last as he was stuffed.

he has pinpoint accuracy ( no turnovers from this kid )..not to mention his PASSION after a goal was kicked by teammates or after the game.

he must have been doing weights for a while so you won't have to wait 3 years to mature.like watts who is in need of a few years to develop in the gym;

read my lips DAVID ZAHARAKIS will have a cult following within 2 to 3 years. with leadership qualities.

he is a future possible captain of any club..!!

as far as the next greek adonis is concerned. MOVE OVER " KOUTA" HERE COMES "ZAHARAKIS"

i can hear the chant now.would look fantastic in red and blue.!!!

others to shine; and worth top ten.would be happy with;

"mitch banner" blonde bombshell running mid. or forward. from vic metro also top class but didn't make all australian but 28 possessions..

"clansee pearce" from WA. back pocket is built big time !!and ready to go NOW !!!

consistant delivery & relentless.. nearly 30 possies..made all australian.. class act !!!

natanui only showed glimpses of exceptionally leaping qualities and came into game in the last 1/4 when game was dusted.

needs maturing ..

"WEST COAST" ARE TANKING TO GET " DANIEL RICH" (HE ONLY MADE INTERCHANGE IN ALL AUSTRALIAN)

AS A REPLACEMENT FOR JUDD. ITS A LOCK !!!!

COME ON MR PRENDERGAST TAKE "ZAHARAKIS"

Disagree with your opinion on Miller, from what I saw in the first quarter against Freo, puts your claims to shame..

just say jack watts live at a school boy match...

he played ok, he got manned up on pretty well and had good opponents

took a couple of good grabs but his kicking was not great at all...i think he kicked 0.3

hard to tell but he has a good pair of hands

that just one match, but after seeing that i dont think i would want to take him if we had the first pick

Saw the schoolboy game today. Every time he got a 1 on 1 or a 2 on 1 he marked it. Marked pretty well but had 4 on him all day. didnt do too badly considering the mass of opponents on him. Would be dissapointed if we didnt take him. Kick 1.4 which wasn't great but is usually a magnificent kick.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

    They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

    Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

    With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
