Whelan over Bizzell any day

Opted for one each of a mid and small back instead of two smalls. The Biz was damn good for us, don't underestimate him because of the way he finished.

He had one good year, and a few Ok ones.

Whelan has played the whole 8.5 years as a solid, very reliable defender. Bizz played 88 games for us, Wheels is on 130.

Whelan has been kept out largely through injury, having rarely missed when fit, whereas Bizzell struggled to find a spot in the team once Rivers came in. I know he was injured throughout '06, but personally i'd take a more reliable, consistent player over the course of the decade, over a player who had a few good seasons and then fell away

Fair enough, I still think Bizzell deserves a spot ahead of him because his best was at a much higher level. Wheels is one of my favs so it has nothing to do with bias.

Geez - Who would have thought...

Nathan Carroll : "Full Back of the Cenury"

It was either him or Nicho, the best ever number 22 draft pick...

I would have given the nod to Nicho. Just because his beard slightly outshines Disco's mo.

Nicho ahead of Nath. Not an endorsement though.

And Bizzell was fantastic from the time he came to us to when he smashed his head against Adam Simpsons' knee in Rd.9(?) 2005.

Smart courageous player, loved him.

Ingerson gets a gig because he was a dam fine player, dont underestimate what he did for us.

Pity we didn't get one more year out of Vardy when he was at his best. He was a gun when in form.

My comment about Ingerson was due to the fact that he didn't play that many games since the turn of the century, don't get me wrong, Ingerson was a great player for us and easily our best key defender since Danny Hughes.

What he said ^^

Big Al ahead of Carroll for mine.

Also perhaps Steve Febey at the expense of Walsh or Ingreson

Febey was very very good in '00 and 01 that said Walsh was a decent player and played more of the 'century'.

If you don't tag in the guts, i dunno where else you'll be tagging. He's won a quarter of our Best and Fairests this century! Grgic was lucky to make an MFC team of the week

Danny Hughes and Sean White are two of my all time favs, the Febey's frustrated me cause I felt they only had really good seasons in the years that their contracts came up.

But who is gator?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
