Adelaide v Melbourne - Match Thread

Thoughts thirty Minutes before the game.

For me the most important and interesting thing will be the first quarter, specifically the first 5-10 minutes. if we can get a run on and continue the style we had from last week it will be a big moment in our development and baileys career (even if we do end up losing). if we get blown away and dont start playing good footy til the game is over in the second half then some serious questions will be raised.

FWIW i think we can win, but if we dont click straight away it could be a nasty afternoon...

Last minute thoughts... we're going to lose.

Whether we get humiliated or not, is another story all together.

Also if Rivers doesn't play I might just cover my eyes everytime the Crows get a clearance.

2 problems:

Our ruckman are so dumb they keep tapping the ball to the opposition

Brett 'always tearing us a new one' Burton.

No Rivers = No Backline. If his OP has flared up again, we can kiss our defensive efforts for the year goodbye.

Valenti has been terrific so far.

while we're down 20 odd points i'm pretty happy with that quarter... as spud pointed out on the tv adelaide are very efficient going forward... they haven't missed yet with the one behind being punched through by warnock... you're always going to struggle when this is the case...

don't think we will win it, but the game plan looks like it's working...

valenti has also been good, laid a couple of good tackles and hit aussie with that good pass... shame he missed that shot at goal...

Without a defense, Melbourne are going to struggle with any ball kicked into Adelaide's forward line.

Adelaide also have a very very good defense themselves.

This makes the game practically unwinnable.

Television moment of the year when one of the commentators mistook Simon Buckley for Simon Godfrey!

They both kick with the same efficiency <_<

We are in some serious trouble with our backline. Sure the ball is coming in at the speed of light, but the lack of awareness and organisation down the back 50 is truly amaturish. Jeff White getting caught... I mean why aren't the players talking to each other?

Brett Burton is doing my head in. Can he just once not rip us apart?!

Thank god for the ray of light that is Morton, Aussie and Valenti.

We are being crucified by umpires or is it just me being frustrated

How was that soft free for Burton and then no holding the ball in our forward 50?

Still not an excuse for why we can't actually zone properly in our back half, or win an effective clearance for that matter.

And to think, Bartram is holding McLeod really well, but imagine if he starts to dominate. Heaven help us!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
