  1. Today
  2. I want surprised about it at all. They've been like that for years, with the particular stars being Hawkins, Cameron and Danger. None of them has EVER infringed the rules; any free kick against them is plainly wrong. And I have never seen any of them pinged for dissent.
  3. Haha well said. So funny to watch people on here get triggered by Chris Scott, Dermie, SEN commentary and now the coaches votes. Very very sensitive bunch on here.. As you say, it was such an enjoyable win and I have even watched the replay just to go back and look at a few key moments in the game that I thought were big factors in winning the game. Big positive is having 5 players under 10 games and beating the undefeated team without the likes of Bowey, Salem and McAdam.
  4. One of the most amusing aspects of media narrative: had Cameron kicked straight, we'd reading articles about another Scott coaching masterclass. He didn't, so instead we get articles about Jason Taylor's drafting nous. So silly.
  5. People can post or care about what they want of course, but I find it odd that most post-winning game threads are usually uppity about how the media reports on the win or their perceptions about our team. Seriously, who cares if Dermott isn't on board, or downplays the win? Fritsch kicked a goal that will be remembered 50 years from now. What does it matter if some forgotten random didn't rate it? Chris Scott has one job: (clue) it isn't to hand out plaudits to the opposition, but to win flags, whatever approach he thinks is best. Goodwin has the same job, but takes a different approach. Enjoy the win. Look at the stats. Do the old fashioned eye-ball test. None of what the media and other footy forums say has anything to do with our chances of winning a flag. Not intended as a condesceing question, but would people be happier if the media bowed down and said we are unbeatable and clear flag favourites?
  6. I've thought Scott was a bit of a you-know-what for a while, but the Pettiness to rate his players as bog in this game rather than just suck up the fact that he lost is pretty damning.
  7. I agree. I think it's relevant if one side loses/wins expected score by a lot, as it indicates one team was dominant but didn't put it on the board. The GWS game in the wet last year is a good example, as I felt we really did dominate that game but failed to score largely due to the conditions ruining our composure and disposal. But if it's close or even mildly one-sided then it really means little.
  8. Well, Danger did not play so don't see how he could have given him a vote.. Ahhh sorry, you are correct... We are speaking about Scott ... that makes sense ( or no sense in his mind).
  9. Woey in my mind was one of our worse players. I would drop him and Laurie.
  10. I thought Holmes was best on. Lever was great but O.Henry did get away for 3 goals. Holmes, Lever, May then Z.Guthrie/Petty/TMac/Oliver
  11. Only one game to go by but Roy looks to have some serious X factor and should be under serious consideration for us in the MSD. Thought ex-Tiger, Collier-Dawson was pretty impressive for Willly.
  12. Think you are being hard on Jefferson. Kicked 3 last week. Like all forwards, I think they need development time.
  13. I’m sorry, but this is a bad stat. It is just trying to place hard truth upon contests and shots at goal under pressure where there is only nuance and grey. There is very little insight with this particular statistic.
  14. I felt Verral was soundly beaten for much of the day by the more experienced Downie. Won a few contests but his body positioning and ruck craft at times seemed pretty ordinary. At ground level he faired not much better imv and reaction time pretty slow, even for VFL level. If he gains possession on the ground he often just panic dump kicks straight ahead or is so slow to get ball to boot or hand his disposals are often smothered or disrupted. Some of the dump kicks he attempted yesterday had no height on them either and occasionally ended up ricocheting straight back off a player in front. Has zero athletism but that hasn't stopped others like Darcy from making it. He might make the grade at some point and patience needed but yesterday wasn't a good outing for the big fella imho.
  15. We were sitting in level 2 behind the goals at the Punt Road end, so had a great view of it. That is a clear highlight I will remember for a long time. We thought Maxie's goal was going to be the highlight until that came along. Astonishingly quick thinking and a lesson in keeping going until the ball is actually out, not just likely to do so.
  16. Pretty impressive game from Moniz after the first quarter. He's always been handy at ground level. Even in the air, he competes well against taller opponents. Recovers quickly and pressures / tackles well. Provides a solid option on the rebound and chains well. Where he lets himself down is his clangers by foot though. Particularly through the middle. Some of them are horror jobs under not alot of pressure and at AFL level the oppo will generally punish on the scoreboard if you turnover in that part of the ground. He's doing alot right but i reckon the FD would want to see him clean that side up first. Too risky otherwise. He is also being played as a small rebound defender so who is he replacing? We have Bowey about to come back. Surely he gets the nod and is well ahead of Moniz preference wise given his prior cred? Personally if Hunter is playing at Casey i'd rather see him play the Moniz role at times. Give Moniz some reasonable minutes at CBs and stoppages and see how he goes. Pushing forward sometimes as well. Wasted down back and unlikely to get a call up while playing this role at Casey. Moniz is also a pretty good crumber / goal sneak. At least when played up forward anyway. Looks like the FD has other plans though.
  17. Scott is a great coach, was a better than average footballer, not a bad bloke in person. ...but the whining in his press conferences and disrespect to opponents is not doing him any favours.
  18. One of the wiser things I have heard Nathan Buckley say is that the indigenous players just see the game differently and play in a way that others don't seem to be able to. This is a great example of what he was talking about IMHO.
  19. I noticed this on the night. Step 1: Give away a clear, obvious, if not paid theres a corruption investigation free kick. Step 2: whine at ump
  20. So is this the starter post for the “Bowey traded” thread? 🤗 Let him go under the radar … do we care? And he wasn’t playing for the free when he was legged in front of goal but ignored by the maggot. If the dissent rule was interpreted as it was when first introduced there would have been at least four 50 meters against those whiners.
  21. How does Roy end up a demon? is he in the mid season draft?
