I'm really glad he's staying. I reckon he'll thrive under Roos. I can even see parallels between the two of them at a young age. Tall, athletic yet laconic, former basketballers. Roos could be just the man to help unleash Jack's potential.

Josh Mahoney named new football operations boss
Swooper Northey replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Go get 'em Josh. -
Good footballer but he comes across as a towel short of a bathroom. A no from me.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Swooper Northey replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd gladly take him as a FA on a one year deal. I think he could help teach our young mids the work ethic needed to succeed as a quality player over many years. -
I hope he hasn't been brought in to teach our players how to use both sides of their bodies. He was the most left-sided player I've seen. Absolutely no right foot. That aside, I wish him nothing but success at the MFC.

The Reverend not too well apparently
Swooper Northey replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Get well soon Rev. We're barracking for you, mate. -
Fact is we could have and should have. Even wanted to play for the MFC...

Ollie Wines was excellent tonight. I know there's been lots said about last year's draft and sure The Toump may turn out to be a fine player, but it sure makes me sad seeing just what we missed out on.

Might be a trivial thing, but I'd like to see our blokes all in black boots again - a tough, no nonsense look.

The AFL make the clash jumper policy up as they go. That we were forced to wear it against St.Kilda which actually made the clash far worse defied logic. If we had to wear an alternate strip, I'd opt for a largely red jumper with a navy blue yoke and white shorts. If Gold Coast can wear its all red uniform against Essendon, then surely we could too?

A brilliant operator. Magnificent effort Peter. Brilliant stuff.

His appointment is the best news we've had for a long, long time. Can't think of too many better stories to have emerged from our club in recent history. A great day. Well done Mr Jackson.

It still runs! Although some day it will pack it in, making hours upon hours of taped matches completely useless. Have converted many of those oldies to DVD.

We had the Sony. Front, not a top loader. Was a great machine - just somewhat limited when it came to renting movies. Usually about four to choose from at the video library! Taped plenty of Demon victories on it!

What makes me feel old is that I have it on Beta!

Loved Tim Lane's commentary during the 87 finals. He was at his peak.

The look on Yeater's face was priceless. Completely confused. He thought the siren had gone!

I still remember Drew Morphett's ABC commentary from that afternoon..."Stretch who can run like a gazelle and deliver the ball beautifully...not without a chance of scoring...FLOWER!" Here's some highlights from that brilliant day: http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=relmfu&v=Ejvjb2zQ3ps

Jude Bolton for possible assistant coach next year?
Swooper Northey replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would welcome someone of Bolton's calibre around the club. Could only be a positive influence. -
Seething about this group of players
Swooper Northey replied to Mongrel Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Happy to have a big clear out because we're going nowhere fast. Aside from Nate Jones and Jack Viney, this group is as soft as butter. We need some steel - players that are hard and can compete. I'm sick of watching a team that resembles a skinny under-19 side. -
I'd be happy to have him as a playing assistant coach eg. Junior last year at GWS. We wouldn't be bringing him in as a long term proposition, more to teach the likes of Viney and Toumpas, and to help demonstrate what it takes to create a successful mindset.

One of the most exciting players I have ever seen. Half the time I'd sit their laughing at how good he was. It was tragic seeing him throw it all away by getting himself into so much trouble. An incredible waste of talent. You wonder what Aaron Davey in a full-time coaching / Indigenous mentor role could do for someone like Jurrah if he were to return to Victoria?

Can't see it happening. Richmond won't let him go.

Good to see that Mick was at his bubbly best during yesterday's post match presser. What a sook.
