Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
Demon Head replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well actually. Neeld recruited Dawes to allow for his plan to have twin towers on his forward line but Clark and Dawes have yet to play together in a game so you could argue he never had a forward line either. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Demon Head replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
So let's get this right. An anti doping rule violation occurs even when an athlete attempts to use a prohibited substance. Is not the signing of a waiver form giving the athlete's club the right to administer a substance which is prohibited considered an "attempt to use"? -

True but during the off season there's not much lost by waiting an extra week or two with players in rehab - things are different once you're in season.

NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong

Apart from the inclusion of some obvious names into the side, we will be much better off when there are only 22 in the team because the first ones out will be the turnover merchants. -
... and we don't have any potential million dollar problems like this one - Lance Franklin suffered suspected seizure two months out from the AFL season

Sadly, he was blowing heavily when he came off. He's clearly unfit and shouldn't have played.

Technically incorrect because it's not an adjective.

Look on the bright side Redleg. Had we not been so pathetic for all those years, you might have lost 100s of hours of glorious irreplaceable vision of great Demon victories.

He lent the mo to Mitchell Johnson for the Ashes series and never got it back.

Demon Head replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do people really think Little is oblivious to the fact that his club is in deep [censored]? I think he's too clever a businessperson to think that way and I have no doubt that he's working in full damage control for the day when it all hits the fan. He's telling one story to the members and supporters but it wouldn't surprise me if those inside the club are hearing an entirely different story. -

Still can't understand why some forwards need to come off for a rest after they've kicked a goal. Wish they'd stay on a bit longer when they're on a roll. -

^ yes but I reckon we have more scope for improvement than most of the other clubs. -

I think it's been said many times that it depends on the facts and so far they've been sketchy. -
Demon great and esteemed philosopher on all matters football - Crackers' Call - Andrew Demetriou and the Essendon media war

I don't get this. Surely if the head of the fish is rotting, it would be in the interests of the game to expose the rottenness and change the people at the top?

I believe that both Ross and John have legal backgrounds which makes their reaction all the more extraordinary. Melbourne was investigated for tanking and was eventually charged with bringing the game into disrepute and a harsh sanction involving a large monetary fine and suspension of officials imposed. It has been punished for past indiscretions so why on earth should the club receive further punishment for something that happened in 2009 by being barred from receiving assistance for being a poor club in 2013? The concept of double jeopardy surely applies to this situation.

Doc Reid's case looks like dragging on as the embarrassment for Essendon and the VFL continues unabated.
