  1. I don't get this. Surely if the head of the fish is rotting, it would be in the interests of the game to expose the rottenness and change the people at the top?
  2. Another view (pre combine) - Ben Lennon
  3. I believe that both Ross and John have legal backgrounds which makes their reaction all the more extraordinary. Melbourne was investigated for tanking and was eventually charged with bringing the game into disrepute and a harsh sanction involving a large monetary fine and suspension of officials imposed. It has been punished for past indiscretions so why on earth should the club receive further punishment for something that happened in 2009 by being barred from receiving assistance for being a poor club in 2013? The concept of double jeopardy surely applies to this situation.
  4. The Ox speaks:- Roos to restore dented pride
  5. Doc Reid's case looks like dragging on as the embarrassment for Essendon and the VFL continues unabated.
  6. Please give yourself a sense of humour. That post was definitely tongue in cheek.
  7. You can catch Gysberts playing for Werribee on ABC TV if you wish.
  8. Wilson's also known for making broad, sweeping statements critical of people in the game and then claiming to be vindicated depending on later outcomes. Then her supporters predictably jump on the bandwagon.

  10. Ray Ellis - bring the man back!
  11. A few beards could go as well.
  12. Intervention by the AFL is starting to appeal. The first thing we do under the patronage of the AFL is organise three priority picks for the November draft as well as the right to sign up Lachie Whitfield under special concessionary rules and Buddy Franklin as a free agent for $2m per annum which will be a recurring concession outside the salary cap. Included in our cap will be the money we play his layabout old man for acting as our CEO while someone at AFL does the real work. Next we award ourselves the four points for each of the two opening games as a result of the ASADA penalty that wipes the entire Essendon team of 2012 which affects both Port and Essendon and actually puts us on top of the ladder. Carlton will finally get charged with tanking. Not for 2005-7 but for this year (they're already 0-2 and worse to come).
  13. Can't wait for her next installment condemning the MFC for axing Schwab.
  14. So what are you going to say in your pre match address on Saturday RR and will you allow it to be televised?
  15. So who says Wilson carefully checks her facts? I believe Robinson's 2009 version over Wilson's 2012 version simply because it was three years closer to the truth. Had Wilson checked her "facts", she might not have written this piece of trash and Connolly and Schwab's reputations and that of the Melbourne Football Club might not have suffered. Who are the "witnesses" who "confirmed" the BS about CS being grim faced? Why would they have claimed Schwab was grim faced when, in fact, spirits were high? Think about it?
  16. Get a hold of vision from any of the last six games that Ratten coached at the end of that year and work it out yourself. Some people have short memories.
  17. So Buddy and Cyril have now been ruled out of the All Stars team and let's not forget there are five Bombers in the squad to "supplement" the line up. Should they really be called the All Stars?
  18. Today's Flanagan article on Arthur Wilkinson got me thinking about the media and how they're not all nasties like some of the opportunists who have shamefully milked the tanking issue for all it's worth. In fact, all this talk of the serious types in today's media brings me back to a different time when the world was all fun and innocence ... well, almost. My fondest early media memory is of a young Sandy Roberts and his gaffe when he introduced Leanne Dick, the reigning Miss Australia on television as "Leanne [censored]" at the Mount Gambier Cup meeting in 1982 (just for the record, Leanne Dick married, has three children and is now Mrs. Leanne Cockerill!). The story still comes back to haunt Roberts every once in a while. A few years ago, when reading the Collingwood team on the Channel Seven news, he had to call out the names of some new recruits at the time - Brad Dick and Shannon Cox. There was an interesting smirk on his face.
  19. Happy to oblige as long as:- 1. They're still on the track when I go home and 2. The train goes past AAMI Park very slowly or stops when we pass by.
  20. The AFL is thinking of banning certain types of gloves used by AFL footballers.
  21. They're back at Goschs Paddock today.
  22. The latest thing bringing the game into disrepute.
