A friend of mine has a theory which I think is somewhat misguided that the players should take heed of how a club's supporters regard their club. After all, they're professionals and they get paid to do a job. Still, I hope there is a bit of emotion and passion running through their veins and that it plays a part in how the team presents for the seasons ahead. Well done WJ.

Yes, and a good touch that the MFC players are wearing their regular numbers making it even less likely that there'll be any confusion. I can still remember the Jack Watts lookalike ring in from Casey last year who wore the number 4.

That sounds more like Liberache.

I've just read on melbournefc.com.au that the club's next open training session is at Gosch's Paddock, Corner of Swan Street and Olympic Boulevard) on Friday 28th January at 9:00am. Lucky, because I was thinking of heading down to Casey. The club's intra club practice match will be held on Friday 4th of February. Venue and Time to be confirmed.

With the type of player we drafted last night you would think the likes of Walker and Fitzgerald are out of the equation. It would be handy to pick up a ruckman, some running defenders and midfielders. Perhaps, one or two mature age players of which there are likely to be plenty about.

He should be kicking himself the very minute he sets eyes on the article. It's an absolute disgrace. He was offered a contract and told that the club could not guarantee a second year. Nothing immoral about that and he's not being treated with contempt because according to the article he could have got more coin by staying at Melbourne and Bailey didn't [censored] him about his future prospects. Morality only comes into it if he was weighing this up for some time and didn't inform the club of his intentions. Perhaps it might have been the moral thing to suggest that he be offered for trade?

When all's said and done he's entitled like everyone else to negotiate the best possible deal for himself and there's no need for anyone to make that a personal issue or one deserving rancor towards the player who has been a great servant of the club in the past and who, during 2010, was certainly in our best 22. If he stays at the club I have little doubt he is good enough to remain at that level for at least another year.

The AFL website has news on where our clubs at - Where's your club at? MELBOURNE Resumed training: Wednesday, November 3 Snapshot: The Dees played a game against Brisbane Lions in Shanghai, sothere hasn't been much of a break. Players who stayed in Melbourne were at the club most days. The first- to fourth-year players will be joined by the rest of their teammates on Monday, November 8. Medical room: Aaron Davey is almost due to start running again after breaking his leg during the year, while Sam Blease (leg) is finally looking right to go after suffering his injury in a 2009 schoolyard clash. Early mover: Tom Scully is killing it. As professional as they come, he's showing the benefit of having a full AFL season under his belt. NAB Cup opener: February 11 v Adelaide and Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium

Like most things injuries come in cycles and we've had a long cycle of injuries lasting 3-4 years while we've been going through a rough time in general on the field. You can't go through a season without any injuries at all but I hope we're about to go through a period such as Collingwood has had in recent times when injuries have a minimal effect on the team's structure throughout the whole season.

THE KASPERSKY CUP SHANGHAI SHOWDOWN

And I believe that's a record for an AFL game at this venue. -
The other lesson about trade week is that it's far too long. Cut it down to three days next year and people might be interested.

One other condition * Players under 12 years of age not permitted. I guess that rules you out deesforspoon
-
Well, he's got one right so far.

Confirmed - Wallis and Liberatore to the Dogs for their first two picks. - Brennan to WCE for its last pick
-
Sounds an interesting prospect for our second round pick as long as we don't give that pick away.

Does it feel like grand final day to you?

On the other hand, we only won 8 and a half games during the season. Ipso Facto... we're not as good as the best eight sides in the comp...yet! -
Rhetorical question, surely?

I'm not a big fan of the predominantly white guernsey but I like the one worn at the weekend by the Sydney Roosters which I think would maintain our traditions. It's white with a red V and a blue V in the style of Port Adelaide's new jumper. Appreciate it if someone technically minded could reproduce it here and perhaps it could be sent to the club.

From Nathan Jones' Twitter And from all of us at Demonland - a speedy recovery, a good rest and we'll see you out on the track over summer!

An excellent positive report. Sure, a lot of things went wrong but the fact that we were in it till close to the end playing one important man short, shows how far we've gone this season.

It would be hard to beat Carn dees correct prediction from the last round that Jordie McKenzie would effect 12 tackles on the Swans. My prediction for this week is Jack Watts to boot five goals.

PJ in the final squad of 22. Interesting.

Williamstown vs. Casey Scorpions (ABC TV)
Demon Head replied to Bleasey as that's topic in Melbourne Demons
If you could combine Cheney's hardness at the footy with Strauss' skills you would have a pretty good footballer. I think the likelihood is that Strauss might succeed ahead of Cheney because he can develop that hardness as his body matures. If you don't have the natural skills, you have to work and train pretty hard but often you simply don't get there. -
Nice work as usual WJ but how did you know on that QB that it was all over?

By my reckoning there are eight players missing from the team selected for this game although I believe there was a change on the day of the game. I think Bartram replaced Spencer.
