Wasnt Clarko quoted as doing this a couple of weeks back and in his own words "it had little to no effect". Again, being brutal and coming to play should be a weekly thing, not something that hinges on articles written or milestone games.

Dawes is contracted for next year, wouldn't care what we got for him if someone took over his contract.
-
You forgot to mention "speaks well" and "polished media performer".
-
The odds flipped after yesterday's game. We moved from $2.60 - $1.60 overnight. The bombers went the other way.
-
I agree but I'm sure we will find a way to grind it out.
-
Sick of players supposedly being injured. If you take the field you're good to go, don't then use it as a reason for a poor performance. Today's game wasn't a final.
-
Those odds were the complete opposite yesterday.

Yesterday Dees $2.60 v bombers $1.60 Today Dees $1.60 v bombers $2.60

Agree RJay, only surpassed by his brother.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - Round 14
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can you please elaborate for the uneducated how he is impacting games? As I've said before the whole leadership/clubman line is wearing thin. Is it the fact he's a great public speaker like Grimes? Is it his forward pressure laying a massive 2 tackles against the Cats? Is it his decoy running? Let's not forget what he's costing us. As has already been mentioned, we can become better rather than remain content with mediocre performances from someone on top dollar. -

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - Round 14

All the talk of Hogan will leave unless we show signs of improvement. The win against Geelong took the pressure of Hogan. He no longer needs to think that unless he kicks a bag we're no chance. And for its worth Geelong has one of the better defences. I'm expecting a win, who of note have the Eagles beaten? -

MFC Membership Numbers a Worry !
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Cranky Franky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great point, as we've always hovered around this mark it would be safe to assume 30k of them are long term members. How many did we have before the start of the season as compared to now? How many of the Tigers 70k were signed up before round 1? They have the biggest bandwagon in the history of sport. How many are pet memberships and how many are 3 or 5 game memberships? No doubt every membership helps but our long term goal must be to get long term members not bandwagon jumpers. -
The last big name player/name player to put off talks then sign from memory was Travis Cloke 4 years ago. By put off I mean drag it out all bloody year.

Next contract? Will he get one?

Delistings/trades at end of the season

Just keep picking up/developing mids. Stevie J, Chappy, Bartell, Enright, Corey, Kelly we're all drafted as mids who also played either on a fwd or back flank. -

Quality creative back men....Salem being one?? Is it something we should be trading for? Who were you thinking? Would we be better off just developing a mid into our other back flanker? Look at the likes of Hodge/Mitchell/Burgoyne, it's all about versatility, those three can play mid or back flank depending on the game/match ups.Jetta Frost Dunn Salem Tmac "quality creative back" -
AFL Round 13 - they're all non MFC Games

Cant remember....was that trade done before Eade arrived?? Either way it's not working. -
The term depth player is being thrown around a fair bit. Many could argue a case that Dawes could be depth for Pedo, Garland depth for Frost on top of Grimes who is not best 22. Allowing that their respective contracts aren't front loaded we could be looking at 1.5 million worth of depth. I could think of a number of players I would like to target for a 4-5 year contract worth 800k a year starting with Luke Parker.

Lucky for us, come years end the coaching panel will make the right call of a number of players. People throw around lines like leadership/clubman/plays his role, at what cost? They are normally thrown up when someone is struggling as if it's to defend them. There's a couple of first year players currently getting around that demonstrate those same qualities.

What some people think - Brings ball to ground Reality - Can't mark the bloody thing What some people think - His leading patterns create space Reality - He's a 700k a year decoy player We are blessed aren't we. Suddenly everyone's a star again after a win. He holds his place for now but I'd rather Pedo, he's more versatile and actually marks the ball.

Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are reports coming out of Sydney and I stress these are unconfirmed at this stage. A man in his 30's was captured yesterday afternoon driving in a westerly direction down the M4 motorway doing some 30km below the speed limit, his car at times failed to stay in its lane, at times creeping into other lanes. Witnesses say the man seemed quite distracted constantly glancing at his phone whilst one hand was fist pumping the air. Telstra has confirmed the AFL game day live app was purchased hours before the alleged incident. When reporters caught up with the man outside his Cronulla apartment this morning he simply turned to the hoard and said "Jumbo, you may have been right about Watts" before being whisked away in his green 1999 Mazda 323. -
