2019 Fixture
I’m glad we’ve got those teams twice, I don’t want to finish 4th like Collingwood last year on the back of only beating 1 top 8 team. We wanted to be a big club, we wanted big games and we got them. Very excited. Hawks have had draws like this for years.

I counted 4, I may have been a Thursday night.

Only 2 games then I realised we’re going back to back AFLX.

2019 Fixture
Up until rd 22 last season what had we actually achieved?....nothing. Obviously we all want a better draw but I think we need to play the majority of the 2019 season like we did rd 22 - semi before we can start demanding too much.

2019 Fixture
I rang Bet Easy today to aquire odds for the Suns not to win a game next year. I was told I will have to wait until early next year. This year they won 4 games including upset of the year beating the Swans in Sydney. Having lost both Lynch and May I can’t see them winning a game, making history if it is to happen.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
He will deserve some credit.... I was going to ask you what you meant by that but then I remembered how well he played in the first two weeks of the finals.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I think that’s realistic, I’ve always thought key forwards should go into every game with the mindset of 1 goal a qtr. Obviously that won’t always happen but I think it’s a good starting point, aim high.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
2019 season.... Freo will beat up on weaker sides at home and Hogan will kick 5. He’ll be the star that the club didn’t do enough to keep. Freo get challenged by stronger sides at home or when on the road and Hogan fails to impact the game. But it will be the midfields fault and Ross Lyon’s gameplay, not playing to Hogan’s strengths. If he stayed at the Dees he would have no where to hide, inability to perform would be seen as exactly that, playing for Freo gives him an out. Once in a generation players(forwards) can take the big pack marks, kicks goals without having to be 20-30 metres out directly in front, kick goals from out side 50, kick them when the game is in the balance and dominate the big games.

Jason Taylor Resume
Freo got pick 14 back in the Lobb trade, 6 & 14 should have been the trade.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Who was the other player, I can’t think if him....

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Could we not have got pick 14.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Why the Suns? Didn’t think they would be needed until later.

My question is, why aren’t other clubs falling over each other in a bid to get his signature? Look what happened when Mitch Clark was supposedly going home.

Exactly, any other possible suitors.....

Thank you both for your replies. I would of thought if they traded Neale for 5, then 5 and next years first round for Hogan, then 6 for Lobb and a GWS pick of some description this whole this would be done. It’s almost like they’ve stuffed themselves for both trades now. Note : I’ve been with no reception since this morning so just catching up with the latest.

Ive clearly missed something, why did Freo trade out pick 6?
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Out of interest have we offered him an extension on his contract?

1-200 maybe, 4-5 is way too much to overlook. I think if he is after a big payday it has to be this year. If he stays at Melbourne we still have to fit everyone in and if he fails again against stronger opposition then it will/should affect his asking price. If he goes now there’s still some buying into the “potential” line.

So are we thinking tomorrow morning there will be an official announcement?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
May have already been mentioned, kind of relevant to this thread. Just read on FB Pies are talking to Marcus Adams.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The funny thing for me is that we still haven’t had any official confirmation, the closest thing we have had was Chook in Perth posting last night (and no disrespect intended because we all appreciate his mail but that didn’t really tell us anything that we weren’t already thinking). Watching the pack mentality change a couple of days ago from the morning “Goody said he’s staying” to the afternoon “where there’s smoke there’s fire”..... I would much rather read posts from people who can think for themselves, think outside the square and don’t continue to run with the company line on every bloody post they make. Whats also funny is the posters who continue to run with the - Hogan’s a gun / a star. - He had a form slump. - It was the midfields fault Or one of my personal favourites.... - Weed’s only played one good game. When these posters were presented with constructive counter arguments and examples of where Hogan’s game was found wanting, quite often there was no response. And they’d have us believe we’re the ones with the problem, we’re not the real supporters.

Reading this thread there are a lot of posts with “what happens if player X goes down”. There are 18 clubs and not enough talent to fill the lists. Three KPF is a luxury that cannot be held forever. Losing Hogan still leaves us with 2. With regards to injuries, what happens if Ben Brown or Jack Reiwoldt (they’re getting Lynch so not best example) goes down.

We all knew Freo would come, would like to know if the club has offered Hogan a contract extension. But if the FD has moved on from him after weighing up potential trades with what we would get in return for him, they then set about doing it with as little disturbance as possible, offering him something modest citing keeping the list together, knowing their offer would fall well short of Freo’s. I still believe if we get 2 x first round picks they could be split and packaged up for May and another ready made player.
