Farewell Jesse Hogan
How would Hogan go on Buddy, Ben Brown or a Joe Danniher type. If the answer is for Hogan to play in defence that actually strengthens the argument to trade him and a trade should be sought before any such move was to happen. If Hogan was to play in defence it would be an admissioyn of defeat. The no.1 trait of a key defender isn’t contested marking or kicking, it’s the ability to beat your opponent. That can be by out marking his opponent, but it can also be by punching/spoiling the footy. In order to be at the contest you also have to have the physical attributes to match up against some of the games best forwards. Hogan is a great mark leading up onto the ball but that doesn’t necessarily translate to outmarking fwds that just up at the footy. As for kicking, yes Hogan uses the ball well when passing by foot while others such as Frost and Omac often get criticised by their disposal but that’s why we’ve got the likes of Salem and Lewis down there. All players are required to kick the footy but there have been numerous times in most games where the ball could/should be passed off to our better users of the footy. In short I’d rather another gun mid than Hogan playing at CHB.

Agree with this, but with this comes a significant pay drop.

I wasn’t aware of the interest from Essendon. I would do that deal without hesitation.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
So he played hurt against the Suns for what reason?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
With regards to TMac Jaded I don’t think we honestly know what his maximum output is. We’ve never seen him at FF for a whole game, let alone a whole season.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Please read my post about who’s he’s kicked those goals against, again players are judged in the big games.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I just posted earlier to Jaded, I would target a Giants mid, maybe a Cognilio (24 years old) or Whitfield (24 years old) or Shiel (25) Kelly (23) doesn’t matter if they’re in contact because as we know they can be broken. Giants get the picks from the Hogan trade allowing them to attack the draft again for top end talent. Giants still have Scully, Ward amongst others, if the price was right we might be able to squeeze one out. Then for Peter Wright we could trade fringe players/ 2nd round picks. Would Peter Wright kick 50 goals, probably not, but with another gun mid he could get 30-35 as well as playing ruck. But on the flip side we leave TMac at FF and he could get anywhere between 60-70. If these scenarios or something couldn’t happen I wouldn’t trade Hogan purely for picks that we keep.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Players will ultimately be judged in the big games, so right now Hogan is not a gun. As for suggestions we should be bold, target one of the Giants gun mids, we don’t need more picks. Any picks would go straight to the Giants. Then as I’ve mentioned earlier target a Peter Wright who is from Melbourne and was out of favour earlier in the year. He could play fwd and chop out Gawn in the ruck leaving TMac to play permanently as our deepest fwd.

Who’s mentioned trading purely for picks, we should be targeting a ready made player and on trade those picks.

Round, opponent, score, disposals, marks Round 1 : Geelong 3.0, 16 & 3 Round 2 : Brisbane 5.1, 22 & 9 Round 3 : North 1.2, 26 & 7 Round 4 : HAWKS 1.1, 24 & 3 Round 5 : TIGERS 2.2, 22 & 9 Round 6 : Bombers 2.1, 8 & 5 Round 7 : St.Kilda 3.1, 25 & 7 Round 8 : Suns 3.0, 22 & 8 Round 9 : Carlton 1.1, 15 & 6 Round 10 : Crows 5.0, 20 & 11 Round 11: Bulldogs 5.1, 19 & 10 Its at this point here people were saying he’s in AA form. 10 goals 1 from his last 2 games with a 31 for the year so far. The stage was set for something special on QB, and we got this.... Round 12 : PIES 0.1, 17 & 3 Round 13 : Bye No need to panic it was just a one off, or was it.... Round 14 : PORT 0.1, 12 & 2 Round 15 : Saints 3.2, 15 & 4 Round 16 : Freo 2.3 19 & 7 Round 17 : Bulldogs 4.1, 18 & 9 More goals against weaker clubs and all is forgotten again. Hold on.... Round 18 : GEELONG 1.1, 14 & 4 Rd 19 : Crows 1.0, 10 & 4 After yesterday’ loss many are now saying he’s been playing injured for weeks, so to help him recover the gets him to line up against the hapless Suns. Round 20 : Suns 4.1, 22 & 10 Not bad for someone playing injured. But then again as some have already alluded to, a lot of players are carrying injuries this time of year, it all depends on whether or not it suits your narrative. Round 21 : SWANS 1.3, 19 & 4 The games where the opponents names are in capitals are games where he needed to deliver. You could go into it more and look at how many of those behinds were easy misses, or like yesterday his disposal efficiency which was yesterday quite low. We are yet to play the Giants or the Eagles but looking at that the games against the other 5 top 8 sides and Geelong who are currently 9th there is a clear trend, and that is he goes missing in big games. Again, he’s not the player many thought he was going to become. The club should be open to trading him but we don’t need more kids, line up and a ready made player and make it a three way trade.

How hard is it? We’re being told he was in AA form at the halfway point of the year. Which teams has he dominated against, and where are they on the ladder?
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Well look who it is, the self appointed Sheriff of Demonland. Care to answer the question?
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Just as he is a excellent mark leading up the ground, but struggles when the ball comes in high or in pack marking situations but spends more time deep than TMac. On the other hand TMac takes the big marks and today aside is a better shot on goal yet it he who has to go down back or into the ruck. Would love to see TMac left at FF for the rest of the year.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Can those posters that are in the “no to trading Hogan camp” please enlighten the rest of us which games he’s dominated this year. Or more to the point, his numbers/stats in our losses. For those who keep bringing up his potential AA form, again, against which sides? What he achieved in his first two seasons counts for nothing now. He is clearly not the player we all thought he’d be which ever way you spin it. Im all for trading him, but would want a gun mid in return. One that fits our age/talent profile. Then target a Peter Wright or similar.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
I was taking the .... DC. We got bent over paying any amount of Watts wage considering how many players Port have acquired. Whilst not all of them were top end (in terms of money not necessarily talent) none of them are 1st or 2nd year players. Then to cap it off they offload Lobbe for pick 2482 to free up salary cap space for themselves. It's Ports job to manage their salary cap not ours. They should of made one of their overrated players take a pay cut.

Are we also paying part of his salary?
