  1. He’s played 20 games, he showed a lot rd 22, 23, elimination and semi.
  2. That’s a great point, I think he was standing in the race congratulating the players as they came off the ground after the elimination final against Geelong.
  3. Loved his endeavour, loved watching him play. Most definitely got the most out of his himself. Took some massive marks and I’ll never forget that goal from the pocket.
  4. They should have 2 picks after the Neale trade.
  5. If we were to get picks 4 & 5 (I think that’s what Freo will have) could we not then split them up with other picks/players and land May and a Mid. We need to be creative and go hard.
  6. What’s this “down on form” garbage, why can’t people say he was beaten on the day by a better opponent or team structure”? Its like “He was in AA form at the half way point of the year” or “he’s a gun” then a few games later “he’s still developing” or “he’s about to peak”, which one is it? The in comment now is “Weed’s only really had the one big game”, we’ll at least he has stood up in big game for us.
  7. For arguments sake let’s say we are only going to play two key forwards next year. TMac is clearly our no.1 fwd option so let’s compare Hogan to the Weed instead. It’s hard to compare numbers (ie goals scores) when Hogan has played 71 games to the Weed’s 20 so let’s look at key criteria for key forwards. - Contested marking in a 1 on 1 situation - Contested pack marking - Set shots on goal - Ability to perform in big games - Aerobic capacity - Defesive pressure I would have Hogan ahead of the the Weed in 2 of those categories, contested marking 1 on 1 and aerobic capacity. In another year or two the Weed will have developed his body more and be able to hold his own more. How goid will the Weed be with another 50 games behind him. With regards to shots on goal I didn’t bother looking at goals - behinds ratio because unless Hogan is near directly in front he looks to pass it off. I understand we have a team rule that at times players always look to pass to someone in a better position. Key forwards at crucial times in games need to be able to go back and earn their money. His set shot routine needs work and he’s joined the list of players who snap the ball around their body when 15 metres out on a slight angle. This was started by Stevie J but continued by players who lack confidence. Rd 23 v GWS Weed slotted one straight through the middle from deep in the pocket. And as I and others have stated many times for all of the goals people keep telling us he’s kicked they fail to mention how he continues to go missing in big games, it’s no longer a one off but a trend. As for the recent Goodwin statement that Jesse loves Melbourne and is a required player, that comes with the “but we’re only going to offer him this much because” - Rd 22 through to the semi we played better without him. Same as last year against Adelaide and the Eagles, there is definitely something to this. - He still has areas of his game he needs to work - He no longer has us over a barrel with Weiderman coming along nicely. - With a lot of our players finding form we have to fit them all in Calls for him to play down back are a cop out, we still need quality mids, use the picks to booster that area. Although we got shown up by West Coast, our 4 weeks prior to that was good enough to beat most other teams.
  8. Out of interest Lucifer, which bays are the reserved seating for Redlegs? I have an unreserved Redleg membership and normally sit Level 2 M3-M4 but I think I can sit anywhere from M1-M4. Cheers
  9. Just reposting this in the hope some others might get some context on Hogan, his goals for the year and his inability this year to influence certain games.
  10. Some big marks taken last night on the end of some ordinary disposal from both teams due to the pressure. Didn’t see any supporters blaming their respective midfielders.
  11. Very lucky indeed, if the FD did worry about the opinion of the “so called many” we would already have Hogan signed up to a 10 year deal worth 1.4 million a season because apparently he has no flaws in his game and is the best young forward in the game. Luckily the FD understand that he doesn’t have a complete game and such a move would affect our decision to retain other talent.
  12. When Hogan struggled up fwd this year it was the midfields fault because the ball was being bombed in to him. Looking at the marks the Weed has taken over the last 3 weeks, they weren’t exactly lace out bullets.
  13. Apologies, just realise it has its own thread.
  14. Can someone with computer skill please post the FB post of the “final siren, when they said Melbourne couldn’t beat a top 8 side” it’s the one with the wrestling. Posted in Melbourne Football Club, The Mighty Demons. Bloody funny.
  15. It was more than Richmond like, Richmond tackle in numbers and are quick to pounce on the ball carrier but our boys tackled with a ferocity like I haven’t seen in a long time. Geelong players were hit hard, thumped into the ground and one tackle (forget who it was, watching replay tonight) the Geelong ended up on his neck and shoulders. They didn’t expect what we gave them and it left them hurting.
  16. I personally think he’s better off playing beteen the arcs, I think that suits his skill set.
  17. We tried various combinations of three talls during the middle part of season and settled on 2, Weed only came back into the side after Hogan was injured. The Weed has blown every one with his last 3 weeks. With Lever also to come back in I think someone’s going to miss.
  18. Realistically what is Hogan worth to us a year all things considered, then what would another club ie Freo possibly pay him a season. I think the gap has widened in the last 3 weeks.
  19. Surely you don’t mean into defence?
  20. Absolutely awesome, not sure where to start. I need to watch the replay. Couldn’t be happier right now. Brayshaw was massive. The Weed.
  21. When do tickets for Geelong’s home final go on sale?
  22. When was Hogan in a form slump this year? Leading into QB he had kicked 10 from his last two games and 31 for the season. He then kicked donuts against Collingwood and Port Adelaide, then went on to kick 3, 2 & 4 goals in his following 3 games. There’s a difference between a form slump and getting beaten by a better opponent.
  23. With Frost’s pace, athleticism and all round general improvement could he not play on mid size forwards as well as talls? I think your first back 6 is not only great defensively but also would generate a lot of drive from the back half. Frost was massive against the Giants. With regards to the forwards I think three is too many. TMac must be the deepest fwd.
  24. Obviously not the way anyone wanted his career to end. I loved the way he went about it, all the best in the future B.V.
  25. Perceived value. He’s a 50 goal a season player who’s yet to hit his prime, he’s arguably the best young forward in the comp, a contested footy beast. He’s easily worth 1-1.2 million a year. Three tall forwards isn’t sustainable IMO.
