  1. I thought the whole idea behind bringing May in was to play on the Josh Kennedy types. But if Kennedy lines up in the goal square then Oscar would play on him? That to me makes no sense.
  2. This is like Hogan all over again, lots of talent but can struggle with his set shots on goal. I wouldn’t know what his stats are but we all had plenty of opportunities to watch Carlton last season and from what I saw he missed a few that were 30-35 metres out with little angle.
  3. Curnow’s accuracy is a concern.
  4. Well if that’s the case Oscar definitely misses out then.
  5. First choice to play on a Josh Kennedy or similar would be May. First choice playing on a Franklin or similar would be Frost. To me Lever and Frost bring something different where as May and Oscar are similar. Unless Oscar was so far ahead of Frost talent wise I’m not sure why we would play him. A back six of Jetta May Lever Hibberd Frost Salem offers us so much not only defensively but also setting up play coming out of our back 50.
  6. Totally agree, I like Oscar and think he is developing nicely but after watching both of their output in the last 6-7 weeks I’d take Frost. I think he offers more because of his versatility.
  7. Good to see just about everyone has jumped off Frost again.
  8. Part of being a leader is knowing not only when it’s your time to lead but when it’s your time to step aside. I can’t see the club making a change for next season but it has to be Jones last in an official leadership role. You don’t go from captain back to vice captain, if anything you from captain to purely playing and being there as a mentor to your successor. For me this situation feels weird because pre Roos, Jones was a rock in our team, he always led the way even though he wasn’t our most talented player, we were getting flogged every week and was overlooked for Grimes/Trengove. Over the last couple of seasons he seems to go missing in the big games. I hope this time next year we don’t have another Grimes debacle all over again.
  9. Who’s their forward option? Peter Wright Mids Martin, Swallow, Miller Defender I honestly can’t name a Suns defender right now. It’s been a long hot day in Sydney and I’m drawing a blank. They got pummeled in the last few week of the season, no doubt a few players had already checked out but they are effectively a mess. Bolton and Richardson need to perform next season or they’re gone, they would be viewing the Suns not only a guaranteed win but a percentage booster as well.
  10. The bottom six last year were : Bulldogs, Freo, Lions, Saints, Carlton and the Suns. Last season they somehow upset Sydney in Sydney, I can’t see that happening again. All but the Bulldogs have signed experienced player/s. Bulldogs have a better list anyway. Suns have lost Lynch, May and Lyons. Suns first 4 games : Saints away Freo home Bulldogs away Carlton home Catlton is their best chance and I can’t see them beating them. There’s also the cash out option should the losses start to stack up but I think I’ll just let it run.
  11. I posted in the fixture thread over the week that I rang Bet Easy for the odds of that happening. They wouldn’t do it then, told me to ring them back in the new year. Will roll that up with a few certainties a whack $100 on it.
  12. I’m glad we’ve got those teams twice, I don’t want to finish 4th like Collingwood last year on the back of only beating 1 top 8 team. We wanted to be a big club, we wanted big games and we got them. Very excited. Hawks have had draws like this for years.
  13. I counted 4, I may have been a Thursday night.
  14. Only 2 games then I realised we’re going back to back AFLX.
  15. Up until rd 22 last season what had we actually achieved?....nothing. Obviously we all want a better draw but I think we need to play the majority of the 2019 season like we did rd 22 - semi before we can start demanding too much.
  16. Looking at these two posts it shows how little depth we actually have. An 18 team competition stretches the talent so we are not alone. Would love Hunt to get his game together and be a regular starter.
  17. How do they all fit in?
  18. I rang Bet Easy today to aquire odds for the Suns not to win a game next year. I was told I will have to wait until early next year. This year they won 4 games including upset of the year beating the Swans in Sydney. Having lost both Lynch and May I can’t see them winning a game, making history if it is to happen.
  19. He will deserve some credit.... I was going to ask you what you meant by that but then I remembered how well he played in the first two weeks of the finals.
  20. I think that’s realistic, I’ve always thought key forwards should go into every game with the mindset of 1 goal a qtr. Obviously that won’t always happen but I think it’s a good starting point, aim high.
  21. 2019 season.... Freo will beat up on weaker sides at home and Hogan will kick 5. He’ll be the star that the club didn’t do enough to keep. Freo get challenged by stronger sides at home or when on the road and Hogan fails to impact the game. But it will be the midfields fault and Ross Lyon’s gameplay, not playing to Hogan’s strengths. If he stayed at the Dees he would have no where to hide, inability to perform would be seen as exactly that, playing for Freo gives him an out. Once in a generation players(forwards) can take the big pack marks, kicks goals without having to be 20-30 metres out directly in front, kick goals from out side 50, kick them when the game is in the balance and dominate the big games.
  22. No Jones or Lewis in best 22 and that’s how it should be by years end. Some posters have them on the bench as some kind of token gesture but natural progression should have them pushed out as season 2019 progresses.
  23. I think Oscar is coming along nicely but I’d have Frost over him. Woukd like to see Hunt work on his disposal over summer and push one of Lewis/Jones out.
  24. A couple of teams have VDB being traded out.
