Only matches the tripe served up by some of the supporters They were training well, watched quite a few, hence the frustration at not being able to translate it to match day Also why the list is not as bad as everybody seems to think
-
Are they the same mates that didn't progress onto an AFL list?.......do you know why they didn't by the way?
-
It was sarcasm, i find it highly amusing that the usual hindsight posters are now bemoaning that we can't seem to attract anyobdy, yet derided the so called 'moneyball' approach last year........hopefully whoever we get in either the coaching or playing roles, will be a considered choice, ....with Jackson/Roos/Mahoney now in control I think that will happen.....
-
You never know maybe the constant whingeing, whining and hand wringing from some supporters puts a prospective player off
-
...no don't think they have, they put some names in a hat, and Roos ran backwards blindfolded and pulled out a name........the past is the past....walk away

2013 Player Review - # 32 Michael Evans
Satyriconhome replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
His first year was wrecked by a back issue, same as Taggert, his foot happened because he tried too hard coming back. And you want the Club to stop flip flopping on players and not waste money,. yet you would pay out a contract, nice -
2013 Player Review - # 32 Michael Evans
Satyriconhome replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He signed a new two year contract in June this year -
Watched him play about 5 of the 11 games, improved every time I saw him. Spoke to him a couple of times as well. He developed, ie picked up the game, quicker than they thought, that he went from coming over to Melbourne during holidays and spending the rest of the time in AFLNZ league, to coming over permanently and playing in the development league. Because of rugby background, he can tackle, has prodigious leap on him, his kicking is getting better and better, played most of the games in defence, watched one incident where opposition isolate him one and one, made three repeat efforts and killed the ball I have him as a real smokey, expect to see him in Casey firsts next year. As for skinny, asked him, fitness staff said he could play at around 90kg, he is still very young, saw his Dad once, of Maori descent, a seriously built guy.

Power Clubs have Training & Social Facilities Together
Satyriconhome replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am perplexed that you think the Club has become 'elitist' and 'big headed' (your words not mine), I don't know where you get that from, I am an 'ordinary' bloke and I have had players and officials of the Club acknowledging me at Casey games, at training, at functions, you can write an email to the Club on any subject and receive a reply, I have, from the CEO down There are a large number of 'welded on' supporters, the fact that 32000 rejoined last season is proof of that, the reason the numbers dropped off is quite easy, we've been crap on the field, not because there is no social club or the supporters don't feel included. I think the problem may lay with your mindset -
Let it go WYL, he's gone...........I am glad you will survive, it is only a footy board, it's not as if it matters.......
-
Sorry WYL, it is post season, I actually have a life outside of footy, nothing much going on here except theoreticals, you support the Club incumbents at that time, it was Schwab, I understoond why he was sacked, but I have actually let it go...unlike some Provocative..........if some posters on here weren't so gullible, I wouldn't have half the fun I have........... been busy with my life so haven't posted so much, daughter got married so that took precedence, now have rugby league loving son-in-law who managed to drop MFC reference into his speech so I can forgive him I'll start positng more often when the hand wringing starts again just after the Draft....
-
What a load of self righteous twaddle, pain and suffering, what the sun doesn't come up each day for you? Brian Royal had a crack, and gave it his best effort, I will thank him for his effor for my Club I suppose you are perfect every day are you?
-
I've always expected posters on this board to actually have a knowledge of footy and can put forward well balanced arguments, without resorting to demeaning comments about other posters, players or coaches, I guess none of us can get what we want can we
-
Watched quite a few Casey games this year, unfortunately Tynan stopped developing, as somebody has already said, too many ordinary games from him,
-
Agreed, I have always been optimistic, but we are coming from a lllllooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg way back
-
Don't worry about the naysayers, they mask their own inadequacies by demeaning others, Brian Royal gave his best and should be acknowledged for his efforts.........the honeymoon will last until the first heavy defeat next season.....and yes it will happen

Casey Scorpions v Werribee Tigers - VFL First Semi Final
Satyriconhome replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Master, assume you were at the game? if not seems a bit rich on some of the comments, I was, Jetta was best on ground for Casey by a mile, so I wouldn't call him a spud. I would be more worried about Taggert Gawn and Bail who all had poor games yesterday, yet they seemed to be have been omiited from the vitriol. Unfortunately I think Tynan is on shaky ground as well, just didn't impact the game On the injury side Spencer was at the game yersteday and had an arm in a sling -
I feel a succession plan going on here......as I said above.....want to see the assistants try reading it slowly......it wasn't a complete rebuild, just a changing of the guard at the top and making sure you brought in the right youngsters, hence my comment on Longmire being a bloody good coach
-
No it wasn't rose coloured, with the coaches in the last five or six years you had posters on here shouting from the rooftops about how good a decision they were, then when it goes pear shaped, bang denigration etc.......both Bailey and Neeld had plans, which in hindsight, which is a wonderful thing, didn't work...so they paid the ultimate price, wasnt my decision it was the Club's ...........I support whoever is coach/CEO/Footy Manager at the time, if they go, I move on (unlike some)....Roos will have plans.......if they work good, I will support whilst he is Coach.........I just think he is not worth a cartwheel from me at the moment........the Leigh Mathews comment in another post above being tongue in cheek
-
Yes I am still here OD, had a daugthers wedding, work and a couple of other things, and as I said before nothing much worth talking about or beating myself up over, looking forward to Sunday to see how Casey go......will do my usual preseason watching with interest, just been there done that as far as footy goes...........
-
Yes I do, I have stated that before, if it was Leigh Mathews, then I would be doing cartwheels. Roos inherited quite a healthy playing list from Eade, he had two bloody good assistants in Lyon and Longmire, a lot of the clubs were struggling, West Coast was really the only challenger, yes he changed footy by having role players, but he then got out when a rebuild was on the cards and has been away from the 'frontline' for a while......I will reserve my judgement
-
Finally good to see a decision, I don't have a Messiah complex about him, and think his reputation is overrated, (he won one flag when most of the competition was in rebuild mode) but he was the best out there, and there was a sustained period of finals at least, something I would like to get used to I will wait and see what we do with the list and who he thinks are good assistants, he got it right with Lyon and Longmire (part of the reason for his success), are there any of the same calibre out there? ( I personally hope he keeps Rawlings and Brown)
-
I agree with what you are saying It is just the nature of the beast, Melbourne players are Melbourne players not Casey Scorpions, Fitzy is out so Pederson comes in , can't see the problem, gives the coaching staff another look at him at AFL level, and Toumpas, spoke to him at a function last week, knows where he is at, was hoping he would get back into senior side, wants the experience, but also gives everything he has got when playing for Casey The situationi also gives the Casey players another chance to show their wares in pressure games like finals, with footy the way it is now and mature age recruits, there is a chance to still be picked up, like Silvagni and Mohr in previous seasons
-
Sorry been busy, that is my whole point the majority of posters on here or 99% of the general population will have no idea what it takes both physically and mentally to be an AFL footballer......I was just being sarcastic in my comments to you, Agree Watts hasn't exactly set the footy world on fire, but he also isn't alone in that, some players take time to fully develop, Bryce Gibbs, Tom Hawkins....Kreuzer who was touted as the best young ruckman ever (of course pre NikNat) is still not tearing games apart......so I am willing to give him a bit of slack, although he also frustrates me during games as well.......but I still retain some optimism that he may be nearing the corner, although it is looking more and more like that corner will be in another team's colours which is a shame
-
So great to see all the humble pie eaters....one reason I will never bag a player...........spoke to Fitzy the other day, confidence is really good, feeling really fit, has the management of his diabetes down pat......like Viney doesn't want the season to end................said he has still got to try and develop a bit more bulk, gets knocked off the ball but that will come with pre season........working hard on his kicking action, like most big forwards prefers on the run than set shot, but said he is trying to even that up......part of the ruck and forward training he is being put through at the moment, which I watched the other day, is Jade Rawlings spending ten minutes pushing holding, scragging, punching, tripping and Fitzy having to stand there taking it
