  1. The Board and the CEO on recommendations from quite a few people, including the head of the Footy Dept McGuire is responsible for most of Collingwood's off field success without him being Prez, half of what they have achieved wouldn't have happened, now if he was interested in being President, yes please Er the Manager in European football is the Head Coach, they don't have anything to do with the administration apart from bringing the money in from the success on field, Everton supporter since late 50's so I do know
  2. You rebuild on the type of player the incumbent coach wants, why do you think there is usually a clear out when a new coach takes over, the manager is a manager, like in the normal workplace, the workers make it successful, too much emphasis these days on the peripheral figures in footy Thought we wouldn't want untried people as coaches again, even as assistants? So you want Ling for what reason, he won a premiership or two, or should I say he was in a premiership team, he was a 1/22nd part of it, I always find this amusing, there is so much hate on here for Brian Royal, yet his CV is even better than LIng's except for the premiership
  3. Damn OD, I hadn't read all the posts, I thought he was a mature age inside mid with all the love being shown, I agree with you... Anybody associated with a successful club in the last ten years is regarded as a gun in their respective field, last time I looked the director of footy or whatever title they are given doesn't coach the team on the weekend..........two words why Collingwood were successful McGuire and Malthouse
  4. Tapscott averages 1.8 tackles a game, with your logic we would be better bringing Jetta in who averages 4 a game
  5. Not sure it was recruiting mistake, watched him in the U18's at Etihad, blasting long accurate kicks all around the ground, could see why we were interested, just doesn't seem to have come on, i liken him to Bate now, really good attributes but a bit of an in between player, can't lock one role down
  6. And I thought a flat punt was a small river craft with a speech impediment
  7. Gee OD, we are agreeing more and more, must be something in the water, not quire sure what everybody sees in Tapscott, with his size, strength and kicking ability every time he appears at AFL level I am expecting more than he actually delivers......like everybody else when he was drafted thought he was Chapmanesque, then I thought he could be our Dustin Martin, doesn't seem to be able to put it together......looks a million dollars at training, but as you know I am regular Casey watcher and he leaves me underwhelmed there as well
  8. You really thought you would break up negative threads, you know you are posting on Demonland right? I agree with your first 2, further down somebody says Nathan Jones is a 3rd or 4th midfielder, obviously doesn't understand why he gets tagged every week But I would add Trengove and Grimes as joint 3rd, Viney and Hogan I want to give another pre season to
  9. Django, old chap, that is the problem with some of you on this board, when i get criticised it is fine, coz it is good ol Saty, not allowed to support the Club, when I dare to not agree with what somebody has written, it is an attack, spot the difference.....no you probably can't..and if you bothered reading my posts properly, again another disease amongst the thin skinned, you will see that I don't think that everything at the Club is ok, it's just I don't have to beat the 'keyboard' to make me feel better
  10. Delusional, the ghost of Caroline still lurks, as I said everybody is allowed an opinion, don't really care, unlike some, what you think, have iso cam on Dawes the whole game did you?
  11. Trengove - a solid game Sylvia - our best mid Byrnes - starting to show Howe - a solid game Dawes - a big presence I could put a bit more, but Joeboy said 3 words
  12. So Lachie Henderson was a dud on Friday was he, sort of shoots down your argument wouldn't you say. Carlisle played forward in his junior days, so it is not foreign, and tell me where Walker played last year? It is the old die hards on here who can't move on, forget the Key Positions, you may still get them in defense ie the fullback a la Frawley, but the rest is finished, see how some of the television lines them up these days, three backs, three forwards and the rest in the midfield......... don't watch if you don't like it.....I thought MFC couldn't develop or are we now just developing wrongly.......let's have a whinge about everything...thought this post was gonna be another good one about Davis
  13. Actually I meant doing what Roughead is doing now as well, he sits in on some of the mids work at training, I think what Clarkson has done with Roughie has made a few clubs wonder if they have somebody in the team that can do the same, Watts is still growing so maybe next season when he has another few kilos on him, Goodes does the same thing
  14. In what way mindless.....still won't agree with you.....aawwww.......only the Orcs who I won't blindly agree with have the problem, and it is their problem......your 3 words used to be quite good, lately though, not sure, just overtly negative now......perhaps you need a break
  15. It obviously shows you have very little idea about modern football, he is not going to 'forget' how to defend, he has become one of the most consistent players at VFL level for the last two years, but hey, let him stagnate.....if you can fill a key position at both ends......better to learn to do it at VFL level, then if you get your chance, the coach can use you both ends...............Lachie Henderson, Michael Hurley, Andrew Walker, Jake Carlisle ring any bells Jack Watts is benefiting from all the positional changes, we are finally beginning to see what we get if we don't plonk him in the forward fifty and leave him there, I am expecting to see him in at some centre bounces soon as well
  16. Gee you astonish (for want of a better word) me sometimes, actually spoke to Davis the other week, has been absolutely loving playing forward, coaches are very happy with him as a defender, but versatility being the key these days, put him forward to add another string to his bow, help his development (not retard it)....his quote "great having somebody chase me around, instead of me chasing them" but also learning as well
  17. A bit like some of the posters on this board then OD, Davis is fine, you will find a lot on here wouldn't recognise him if he fell over them, seen him live about 20 times, has been steadily improving in all facets of this game, which is what you want to see, would be pleased to see him debut if Garland doesn't get up
  18. Yes we need to attempt to boost the midfield, but who is 'available', there are not too many A grade, will it cost us too much to prise one away from another Club, hence why I think we are trying to get as many games as possible into the likes of M Jones, Kent, Viney etc
  19. I have opinions, because I watch the whole game, if you are going to post, you must expect answers, or are you just expecting everybody to agree with you. Let me think, of the top of my head, Trengove, Sylvia, Byrnes, Howe, Dawes, so not a bad strike rate.
  20. Try listening to what Neil Craig said at his presser at the weekend re rucks, this will give you an idea of the thinking at the moment Also how many 'talls' have Geelong got, yet they traded for Hamish McIntosh Do you want to explain why Cross would be a valuable addition?
  21. Well that just sums up your footy judgement, swap Fitzy for Daniel Cross a veteran who can't even get a game with the Dogs, that is why I find some of the posters who think they know footy on here so amusing........
  22. It is not universally accepted, I don't accept it for a start, you have a couple of the 'noisier' posters who pronounce on a player and it becomes accepted, how come if his action is so wrong, when he played at Casey he was a regular goal kicker and in the assists?
  23. Sorry you are wrong, Watts popped up in the ruck against Bulldogs, Sydney and Geelong, does a bit of work at training as well, seen it myself, think he and the Club want to keep him 'involved' in games, he will be a handy backup, taking a morning off again for training this week again , want me to ask him?
  24. There has never been anything wrong with Fitzy's disposal, just one of the 'experts' on here saying there was and the sycophants joining in
