  1. Gysberts - Lack of work ethic and lazy. Jurrah - Lazy and has his own rules, hates stern authority and won't buy in. Martin - On figures, was our best ruckman last year, bit of a loss. Moloney - Bit of loss, but was hurting our disposal into the forward line, just bombs it.. Pettard - Had a punting problem, has talent and needed a change. No loss I don't think any of those players are a big loss. Moloney will have a big year at Brisbane, but he is in check up there - because he most likely respects Voss and Brown. I don't think Brent and Neeld saw eye to eye, Brent probably thought, what have you done and why should I respect you... Maybe fair call. I think the only real loss we've had in the past few years has been Brock, as he is exactly what we need. A fit and firing McLean would at least have us having a dip..
  2. He'd be at least worth listening to. Maybe we should poach Neil Balme. Call me sentimental, but I'd like to see Neil Daniher back with us in some capacity. I think he'd be really helpful for the young kids we got, take us back to basics.
  3. Stevie J sounds like a tough character, he would've only of been a young bloke and to stand up to Scarlett, massive props. Stevie Baker said in an open mike interview, that Stevie Johnson made Baker respect him. I don't know what happened in the Johnson/Scarlett fight, but I'd back Stevie J, even as a kid, Scarlett is nothing but a king hit merchant. As for Bernard Hopkins, mentally he's just on another planet to most boxers. Mayweather has a good mindset and work ethic as well, he believes in hard work and dedication and trains 3 times a day leading up to fights. Floyd will work any hour of the day, go for runs at 3am, because while his opponent is sleeping - he is training, it gives him that edge physically and mentally. Boxers have a brilliant mindset, I agree that a lot can be learned from them for AFL footballers.
  4. I didn't see much of Gillies at Geelong, not sure he got much of a run. But, I can only judge him from what I've seen of him, which was only last week. Just on what I seen, in my opinion, we must be very light on for backman. I once watched a bloke from Hawthorn, Josh Thurgood, he was the worst player I'd ever seen on an AFL list. That was until I watched Gillies go around last week.
  5. Sorry to hear your loss mate. He would've loved young Viney, he's a ripper.
  6. Good on Cummings, I see where he is coming from. Sadly for us, we will probably have to wait another year or so for Jack to come good. Very much like Tom Hawkins, kids who dominate juniors, generally take time. When they do come good though, they come very good. Everyone knows Jack has the skills, they are just frustrated he lacks the vigour and desperation. Well, Jack never had that when he was dominating Juniors, he was just simply too good in other areas. I think Jack will do what Hawkins has done, but do it twice as good. The pressure will ease on Watts as well, as Nick Nat starts to break down even more with injuries. I think the OX might've hit the nail on the head with consistancy.
  7. Well written by Smith. Can only agree, I can't believe the media are going this soft on us actually. We really are irrelevant!
  8. Mitch shouldn't risk himself this weekend, let your ankle heal. We need Mitch for the long term.
  9. That's funny, I rang Mark Neeld and he said to pop in and he'll give me a power point presentation to alleviate my concerns.
  10. You want the truth.. Listen to Wayne Carey.... They look like footballers, they even talk like footballers. But they sure as hell don't play like footballers. Unfortunately we all support a bunch of women. Jack Viney comes in and the onus is on him to even speak to these little sooks. Viney don't care about nothing, that kid took a shot off Wojo, brushed it off like it aint no thing. We need go-getters at this club, someone tell the board that. WE DO NOT NEED CLASSY SKIRTSMEN, we won't even be a club by the time they come good.
  11. Wines killed the champs last year, looked the best player in the whole championships, he was desperate. Kid is a ball hunter, he hunts the pill and is ruthless, Port have an absolute ripper on their hands. Ollie Wines will buy and sell Dustin Martin, no two ways about that. Wines is something else, Viney is also. We should get this rumoured 'war chest' we have got and throw it at Ollie Wines when his contract is up. He is exactly what we need, why we didn't take him is beyond me. - then and more so now. Toumpas is classy and will be a star, but like we have the time to wait around, it was a baffling choice. Wines will be a star straight away, he had Selwood written all over him.
  12. Mission: So much for the power point presentation. Neeld: This joints a rabble. Browny: Told you we should've waited for Mick.
  13. Decoy out of the square, ala Carey at Adelaide. Neil Craig is a genius! Why didn't we think of this? Sad thing is even with shot knees and a decade out of the game,, Ox would still have Sellar and Pederson covered.
  14. I think most Demons supporters are on stress leave this week.
  15. Maybe Kosta went into the fight not expecting Ricky Hatton to get away with the 'Hold and hit' tactics that he did. Kosta had previously retired before the Hatton fight and had only fought once a year leading into the Hatton fight - as opposed to 4-5 times a year in his prime. If Tszyu lost, it's because he was ring rusty, more so than lack of strategy - and on top of that Hatton was allowed to practically wrestle him. Hatton then went on to fight Mayweather and wasn't allowed to clinch at all and as a result Mayweather KO'd him. If Hatton wasn't allowed to clinch against Tszyu - even with Kosta being past his best - Kosta would've KO'd Hatton.
  16. Typical response around here to turn things into a personal attack and bung on about other posters being wrong. I encourage constructive conversation, one thing thing entire board needs to get away from - is attacking other posters and belittling them. Very disapointed.
  17. We all do mate. That's why we are all frustrated.
  18. I don't really read into much of what Gary says. He is just another player commenting on the club, just like Schwartz was on radio yesterday. Lyon can comment all he likes, so long as he stays away from the club. I don't think Gary is full of himself at all, I think he means well. He probably just doesn't have as much of an idea as people make out that he has. He hasn't coached at an elite level, other than International Rules. Yet the public hold Lyon up like he is some sort of voice of reason at the MFC and we should defer to him for decisions. He is really just as irrelevant as we all are, he has his job in the media and is just another disgruntled supporter.
  19. I don't know about that. Mark Harvey would be chomping at the bit. Chocco Williams would coach again. Paul Roo's would give it consideration I think. Clarkson would take the gig if Hawthorn off him. The thing is, there is a lot of proven coaches out there and they would take the job. Why on earth we went for an unproven coach, just baffles me. And, I have actually been a Neeld fan, but it's now looking like the experts were right when they critisized the choice. I will say, I was wrong - at least so far - and the blokes had a year and is giving us nothing Bailey couldn't Actually, at least Bailey had us attacking.
  20. That's the thing, if they don't play for Neeld though, how will this be fixed? They didn't play for Bailey, so he had to go. If coaches can't get the best out of players - regardless of their talent - then the coach will be sacked. I am not anti-Neeld, it's only first week, I was just throwing up a future scenario, if Clarkson is available come years end. Because, chances are that he will be available, he hasn't done a bad job at Hawthorn - he just hasn't won as many flags as they'd of liked. He has got them up there consistantly and has a record of rebuilding that club from the bottom on up. Roos and Clarkson are proven rebuilders. Paul Roo's would be the pinnacle, but Clarkson would be a good get. Personally, I am not for untried coaches, it was a risky move - it's not like we were in such a position to make such a move. Our board should be accountable to some extent as well.
  21. I agree, but I also agree with what Mark Robinson is saying on 360 at the moment - as much as I hate Robbo. He says, if we are still playing like this in a months time, then Mark Neeld has to go, I don't disagree with that.
  22. Kennett wants Clarkson gone, so he is as good as gone from Hawthorn. Would Clarkson be a guy that we would look at, if Neeld continues to fail this year? This is not a snap reaction, replace Mark Neeld right now thread. But if Clarkson is available at the end of the year, is he a better option than Neeld? We seen what happened at Fremantle, when Harvey got replaced by a better man. Clarkson is an angry man, maybe we need an aggressive coach. Thoughts?
  23. Coming into this thread, I expected to see a pic of Tom Gillies of Cam Pederson.
