Would've been good for Kent to debut over there. I might be bias, but I'd have Kent in our best 15.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
ThreeOneSix replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Glad this is out of the AFL's hands. I pray for the downfall of Essendon, I am sick of their [censored] supporters laughing at us. Perhaps they can laugh at us when all their players are banned for 2 years. Only sad thing is, even if the have to play their VFL side, they'll probably still beat us. -
We'd need to be winning for a few years to get a fair shake by the umps over WA. I watched one year we played WC over there and they were allowed to throw it, was amazing. It's criminal what goes on over there with the umps. But, in saying that, I will be happy if we don't lose by 100 plus.

What I seen was Don McLardy start to get angry every time he was questioned. Cam Schwab not only spoke well on his own behalf - but he also spoke on McLardy's, because he could see that Don was battling. Robbo said it on 360 and I agree with him, Don McLardy sank in that press conference this arvo. I am not saying Schwab should be re-hired, I am glad he is gone, but he certainly handled himself a lot better than McLardy. Don McLardy said 24 hours earlier that there would be no radical changes - then the next day he asked Schwab to stand down. The press even took the mickey out of McLardy, because he has flipped flopped so much. I can only speak for myself, but I don't want a president that flip flops completely in the space of 24 hours. If I am lacking logic somewhere, feel free to point that out.

I am shooting him down due to lack of conditioning and preparation, not saying the guy doesn't have a future. It's only my opinion that he should go back to the VFL and work on his strength, core and gain a bit of a confidence in the process. I am not saying the guy can't play and doesn't have a future, just that he doesn't look prepared enough for AFL football. We have guys in the VFL who are more ready made and could make a bigger difference - when we need any difference at the moment. That is only my opinion, I am not saying it's right or wrong, but I just call it as I see it.

Would have Ratten back in a heart beat. Mahoney's about as useful as both Brown and Neeld. Hopefully the next coach brings some decent personal with him.
-
I don't care if he has played 2 games or 20 games, he has no confidence. On top of this, he looks like he has no core - which becomes even more evident when you don't put in one percenters. I am absolutely gob smacked the condition Toumpas is in compared to Viney. The difference in strength is massive, Viney repeatedly goes for contest after contest and hits them hard, gets up, back into it. Toumpas looks like he lacks strength at the moment, looks like he has no core and probably needs to play VFL for a while and work on his strength. I am not saying Toumpas won't be a gun, he probably will be and has a lot of class, but he has no strength to get the ball on his own and lacks in a lot of areas atm. Looks green and there are ready made players in the VFL, who are strong and could make more of a difference.
-
Bring in both Kent and Gawn. Leave Tapscott in the VFL for another couple of weeks, he needs more confidence. I'd drop Toumpas and Trengove, they need to get back to their old selves. I don't know what we do with Watts. And big Maxy Gawn, come on down, we need a ruckman and Sellar can't do it all.

Gai's horses are the fittest! If there is any knock on Gai, she can often run her horses into the ground! It's recruitment, not development, it's breeding - but just because Black Caviar is a champion, doesn't mean this horse will be. Breeding wise, he is better bred than her - being by Redoutes Choice, who is one of the most successful sires in the past decade. But, for 5 million, it's a decent risk, you can't send him to stud and expect to get good mares - if he isn't much chop on the track. Could be a champion, could be a flop. If they can afford the risk, then why not I guess.

David Schwarz for MFC President? [MERGED]
ThreeOneSix replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, too fragile and emotional, wouldn't make a good president. We need a professional and sadly, as much as Schwab needed to go, he was more professional than Don. Schwarz isn't a professional bloke, you only have to look as far as him flipping out passionately on the radio to know that he isn't the man for the job. -
We need to get Don out. 360 is spot on, Don drowned in that press conference, Schwab handled himself like a professional, Don less than an amateur.

Don signing Schwab to a 3 year deal, then sacking him. Neeld signing Jamar to a 3 year deal when he is shot. Bringing in a bunch of spuds who can't get a game at other clubs - and over paying them. Hard to have confidence in these blokes. Hopefully Don is next cab off the rank and Neeld follows. A fresh start is exactly what we need and that's everyone.

Media - Youre Damned if you do and Damned if you dont.
ThreeOneSix replied to DeeZee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Schwab spoke a lot better than Don - in fact Cam actually bailed Don out in the press conference. Caro was angry, because Cam Schwab operated like a true professional, when you have a bloke that sits there and says that he understand why he is sacked and all the rest of it - then the limited journo's have to think what they can ask Schwab that will get a reaction that they want. Robbo tried, Caro tried, they didn't get their response off Schwab, they turned their attention towards Don, who Schwab covered for nicely all press conference. But, he couldn't keep doing that and the more Don spoke, the worse it got for him and then in the end. With a bit of luck, Don moves on, Neeld and Brown move on and we can start fresh, from scratch, like we desperately need to. -
It's hardly doing well to pick out the brother of a superstar and pay through the nose to do so.. Think Maykbe Diva's son was purchased for 2 mil and sold for 17,000 a couple of years later. So, we might be bumping this thread in the future and saying CC is not doing so well at all.. He might have another Luke Molan on his hands here.

I agree, I hope he vacates ASAP.

He certainly speaks well, haven't seen a guy completely handle the media like Cam did today - in a long time. Very well spoken, understood the situation and was able to bail Don out throughout the whole press conference. Schwab was a realist and understood that his job was untenable after such hiding this year.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
ThreeOneSix replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Essendon won' get off easy. If no stories are written, it's because Essendon could sue, it's a delicate issue - and one the AFL aren't in charge of. I am surprised we are not being raked over the hot coals ourselves. We are the ones getting off easy at the moment, no Essendon. -
Andrew Demetriou - Only a phone call away
ThreeOneSix replied to Undeeterred's topic in Melbourne Demons
We've had our priority pick, the over compo the AFL dished us out with Tom Scully. -
148 > 186... Bailey was far better than Neeld.
ThreeOneSix replied to Pitchy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it's worse, especially given that Neeld has preached we have had a good pre-season, he has changed things up. We were lacking fitness and now he has instilled this into it and apparently fixed up what Bailey left him. Then we come out, get blown away a bottom 3 side in Port and get demolished by Essendon. I think it's worse given our expectations were far higher coming into the season - than 186, which came after a season of mediocracy. -
Was very interesting to read through this whole thread. Ding aling looks like he's had the last laugh.

Considering he was one of the best young talents the country had seen on the basketball court, I'd walk away. He was a shoe-in to get a place on a college team apparently and probably would've made NBA. Instead he comes to play at this rabble and gets questioned by every AFL supporter because he got drafted before a freak. If I was Watts, I'd leave the game. He might gain some confidence watching Westoff from Port, who hasn't got a kick in 5 years and is now having a break out year.
-
A lot of supporters would be jumping off us after last night. It's embarrassing to even say you support Melbourne now. After the tanking saga and now this, I can only imagine how the players feel. I can see our membership dropping sharply. With the franchise sides coming in, it's easy for people to just jump [censored]. But, have faith, we have Viney, Hogan, Kent, Howe, Blease and a few good kids hopefully coming next year. It can all change pretty easily, we just need the right board, coach to get the boys going. I do understand people jumping off while Neeld is in charge though, but do get back on board when we get a decent coach. Would be a shame to lose passionate supporters, we are all hurting and frustrated atm and embarrassed.

Jamar was gone when we re-signed him for 3 years. Neeld re-signs Jamar when he looks like a spud, brings in Chris Dawes who is a spud - and pays him a stack. recruits top up players like Rodan, Brynes, Pederson, who are no better than Matty Bate, who we finally got rid of. All these blokes are list cloggers now and I don't know what Neeld was expecting to achieve. Jamar hadn't had form and looked ordinary last year and we re-sign him for 3 and the other blokes couldn't get a kick at their previous clubs to save themselves.

A CLUB IN CRISIS ... THE AFL MUST STEP IN
ThreeOneSix replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
If they ask to be traded, let them go. They are useless if they don't want to play for the jumper. Who cares where we pick them, offload them. If Frawley is one, and thinks he can be a running backman at another club, off ya go. We have a few untouchables.. Howe, Clark, Jones, Viney, Tom Mac, Grimes and Blease. If anyone else asked to be traded, I'd open the door for them. Players will be keen to leave this year, because Moloney, Pettard and Rivers will most likely have good years and it will give our players an excuse that they aren't that ordinary. But, truth is, Moloney would've had a decent year if he stayed, but he would've still bombed it into the forward line with no direction. Pettard still would've turned it over and Rivers would've killed it like he always has when he's got on the park. -
I don't know what supporters expect booing our players to achieve. It's hardly going to make Toumpas, Hogan, Viney look at that and be inspired to be playing. The pressure on these kids is already massive. As for everyone comments on Jack Watts, I totally agree, absolutely insipid performance by Watts. Usually Watts is unfairly targeted by negative comments, but we can't defend him anymore.
