2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brandon Parfitt ... available at 43?? surely not.. I rate this kid from NT with his evasion and pace the equal of a Wells or Burgoyne. Hope he lasts for the Dees to snap up. -
agree... ANB will be a player. Give him another 12 months development.

Sam Weideman and Liam Hulett
spirit of norm smith replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Both Weideman and Hulett did as required and as expected in 2016. Young key forwards take time ... and we will still only expect 5-6 games for MFC in 2017. MFC must prepare in case Jesse walks (hoping Hogan stays of course). -
offer the kid a 3 year deal at $250,000 a year. He smashed us.

agree... Gone - Dawes Terlich M.Jones Newton Grimes Garland (trade) Spencer (trade) Michie(r) Max King (r) ins ... Hibberd & Melksham... more pace & heart.

2017 draft pool looks strong. I would prefer one top talent (pick 11-12) then two late 20s picks.

I was a big fan of Towers in 2012 and was disappointed that we could not get him onboard. I think the Dees should try to grab Dean Towers now. He has been squeezed out from Sydneys best 22. Yet everytime I see him play, his pace and ballwinning is a standout. Very good overhead mark. I think he would compliment our hard inside mids. Offer a 3 year deal and he might be a prize. Swans will have some serious salary cap pressure.
-
If he is available around pick 50+, he would be a very handy pickup.
-
Possible last rookie spot if either Dunn or Garland go. Prefer Declan Kielty ahead of him.

Trengove is a champion bloke and has been loyal to MFC and vice versa. A lot more honourable than the scum Scully senior and junior who chased money over love of the game and respect. I hope MFC get the chance to rub Scullys nose in the MCG dirt.

It seems Harvey remains an option to become a Demon. I think NO but can see the benefit. He has pace (still), skill and ability to kick goals. If he lifted us into the finals, it would be a success. He has the finals experience and could assist some of the close games expected in 2017.

National Draft Pick 20
spirit of norm smith replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Salem for pick 20... tempting ?? He is so ready to go but injury concerns still exist around his ability to put games together. -
He has the x factor look and the skill of a classic left footer. Opportunistic forward. Not quite AFL standard but worthy of a senior place on Caseys list.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOEL SMITH
spirit of norm smith replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope we upgrade Joel to the regular rookie list next year. His potential is huge. I see him as a rebounding half back. -
Big week for the Melbourne FC and Casey Scorpions alignment. It matters for the development of the youngsters and recognition for those who has supported the club. Big challenge though as the BULLDOGS SMASHED COLLINGWOOD BY 117 POINTS. Bulldogs have a FULL LIST and no need for eligibility to apply (will play 18 AFL full listed players). Demons need to support Casey and pick the best team possible. Question mark over Salem who could have been critical against the Dogs. ins. grimes terlich out. salem (concussion) collis white garland kielty* dunn Hutchins* michie m.jones trengove grimes newton t.smith* terlich scott* Weideman kennedy Spencer Oliver Neal-Bullen J.smith morris* munro* mcinerney* 23rdman ferreira

at least worth pick 48 from the Lions. Lynden Dunn is a great bloke with plenty of ability. Heart and soul around the club. He remains AFL standard and would walk into the Lions best 18. Unlucky that o.mcd has been allowed to "develop" in the firsts in 2016. Dunn made one mistake and was dropped never to reappear.

Carlton rejects... pass GWS Giants not getting a game but have huge potential. Jake Barrett and James Stewart YES.
-
Hamish Brayshaw is likely to be drafted around 50+ draft range. Hope MFC could grab with pick 62 as we currently have.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DECLAN KEILTY
spirit of norm smith replied to Steve13's topic in Melbourne Demons
Giants get academy and can choose and match to get them Demons align with Casey, develop kids and then its a lottery -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
spirit of norm smith replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
For Hogan Eagles ... Gaff and their pick 12 (draft 2016) Freo ... pick 3 (draft 2016) and 1st round pick in 2017 draft -
Oliver is going to be a STAR. big Oscar Mcinnnerney looks like a rookie chance. Kielty definitely should be drafted late.

Grimes out makes it a close one to call.
